A MESSAGE FROM TED HALL (RODEO DIRECTOR)

The first Little Britches Rodeo was held in 1965 and has been every year with the exception of 1979. That year the arena was under construction. The competitors fall into three divisions: Tiny Mites (up to 8 yrs), Juniors (9 to 12 yrs), and Seniors (13 to 17yrs). Events range from Goat Tail Tying to Barrel Racing to Steer Riding. The Tiny Mites will place to 6th, while the Juniors and Seniors place to 4th. A trophy buckle will be awarded to the All-Around Cowboy, Cowgirl, and Tiny Mite. There will be four amateur events with “jack-potted” cash prizes. Included are Cow Riding, Steer Daubing, Pole Bending, and Barrels. Last year our Barrels were an approved BCBRA, and look forward to running it again this year. One event that I can’t forget to mention is everyone’s favorite, Mutton Busting. This is where kids older than 2 yrs yet not weighing more than 45lbs, compete riding sheep. A must to see!

     During intermission on both Saturday and Sunday our Drill Team "The Langley Riders Drill Team" will be performing. After the rodeo on Saturday it has become a tradition to have a BBQ dinner, and this year will be no different. In keeping up with that tradition, we have a pancake breakfast to start the day on Sunday. The rodeo starts at 11:00am both days.

Langley Riders Society is a non-profit organization with approximately 150 riding members, open to all ages that would like to compete at a fun level in a variety of events. Our arena located at 208th and 42nd ave. in Langley is used regularly from March thru October for Gymkhana’s (games), Team Roping, and English/Western shows. We host the Cowboy Olympics and without saying, the Little Britches Rodeo.
