Journal Excerpts

These are some excerpts from the first journal of the first ever fan club for RF started in 1959. Again, we were hoping for scans, and we still may yet do it, but for now, just some snippets. Time travel back with us, to 1960...

Bob Fuller-California, 1960
...Thursday afternoon found us guests of John Smith on the set of Laramie. Bob's Pap picked us up and took us to the studio, being members of John's Club for some time, we had no difficulty getting to see him. Bob Sr. gave us a guided tour of the studio on our way to the stage where Laramie was being filmed. Once inside we saw a handsome John Smith standing along side of a tall dark man in the person of Rod Cameron, doing a scene for the show. When the scene was done, John came over, shook our hands and talked about the show, his fine club, our club, his marriage, and how happy he and Luana are, and such.
It was a good afternoon, one we will long remember. John introduced us to Rod Cameron, a tall deep voiced fellow, with a nice smile and a friendly manner about him. Bob introduced us to some others in the cast, and showed us the furniture used in fight scenes. We were also introduced to John's stand in who resembles him very much from the back and side, a very good looking fellow too.
Our visit ended too soon as usual, but then they all do when you are having fun, don't they! We kind of hated to leave, we enjoyed seeing all the various things so much. Bob Sr. took us out via the streets of Laramie, around the lake used in Riverboat, we also saw the boat used. Then there it was, the front gate, the highway, and in a matter of seconds the apartment.
....from a fan club member, NK:   Lately, it seems that Laramie is my thrill. I suppose I like the show because Bob Fuller is one of the stars on the show. In fact, the way I got started watching the show was:
It was one Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM not too long ago, when all of a sudden I remembered that I had no homework. Naturally I was delighted because that meant I was free to watch television. An incident such as this one was very rare for me on Tuesday nights. In the past, I always had homework, so I had no special program to watch. I just casually turned the channel dial. I stopped at each station for a few minutes to see what the show was all about. When I reached channel four, I saw him, Robert Fuller. At the time however, I didn't know him by merely looking at him, but I guess it was love at first sight, because I continued watching the show. At the end, when the cast was flashed on the screen, I caught his name and have remembered it ever since.
The week after this happened, and for the weeks thereafter, I made it a point to watch Laramie. Whether or not I had something else to do, I watched it! Now Tuesday is Laramie night at our house. We all look forward to watching it.
