On Alias, Sydney seems to have some sort of magic ability to speak any language known to man. The rest of us, unfortunately, are not similarly blessed. But the time may come when you need to add a few words or phrases in another language to your fic (personally, I don't like much more than that, as I think it interrupts the flow). These are some sites to help you do it.

AltaVista Babel Fish: Translates text from English to Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, and vice versa (courtesy Thorne).

Free Translation: Translates text from English to Spanish, French, German, Italian and Dutch, and vice versa.

Google Language Tools: Translates text from English to German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, and vice versa. Also lets you search the Web in an obscene number of languages.

The Alternative Dictionary: Slang and swear words in just about any language you can think up (courtesy Thorne).

Aussie Slang: Although the focus is Australian slang, it has a link to "global slang & dialects directory," which is a fairly extensive look at slang in a number of languages.
