The Landing Controls

If you have come to this page, you are here for additional information.  I do not know how much info you want, so I will do this in steps.  When you have gotten what you need, just stop reading.  If you continue on, this page becomes a spoiler.  It is up to you how far you read. If you do not want a spoiler, stop when you have enough clues to continue on your own!!

When you first use the submarine, you will find various places you can surface, but cannot get to the landing with the ladder.  All you can do is look around.  You see a ladder a short distance from the sub, but it doesn't do much good if you can't get on it.  Obviously, since the ladders are there, there must be some way to get to them, right?

The Clues

When you first use the submarine, there are only two landing ladders you can get to.

One is, of course, where you got into the sub.  The second is a cliff leading to a room with a long narrow window on one side and five levers on the other side.  The levers are down except nos. 1 and 4, which are up.  What do they do?

These levers control the landings.  When in the proper position, the landings are accessible from the sub.

CAUTION!!  Spoiler!!

Each lever, when in the "up" position, makes one landing accessible from the sub.  So, simply put all levers up and all the landings are accessible.  If you wish to see a view of the crater lake, look out the window (there are no clues here....just a nice view, although it may help you just to know the layout of the lake).
