This is a book that describes how to use imaging APIs in Java to build sophisticated imaging applications. It covers AWT Imaging, Java 2D, and Java Advanced Imaging (JAI) in detail. Examples include a variety of image viewers with features such as arbitrary image manipulation, Lens and ROI computation using both Java 2D and JAI.
Two chapters in this book are devoted to server-side imaging. Examples in these chapters use RMI, servlets and JSP pages to serve images to the Web. These examples demontrtate how to manipulate images on the server-side using Java 2D and JAI.
This book also covers the Image I/O APIs which include currently available JPEG package(Java 2D), Image I/O package (JAI) and the latest Image I/O framework.
