On New Year's Eve itself the four
dogme directors will shoot the D-dag project in Copenhagen. Each director has
one main character and his own crew at his disposal. Each director will follow
his character around from just before midnight and into the new millennium.
Each character is heading for a common goal in order to carry out an outrageous
plan.
From a controlcenter in Tivoli each director has a direct link to picture and
sound, to their character and crew enabling the four directors to direct their
crew through the crowded New Year's Eve. Improvisations and changes of plot
are possible all depending on what the evening brings.
Five cameras are used simultaneously. The cameras must run non-stop for 70 minutes
from around 23.30 until 00.40 January 1 in the new millennium. On New Year's
Day at 19.30 all house holds in Denmark will be able to follow the results of
the four directors' stories on New Year's Eve on Danish Radio 1, TV2 Denmark,
TV3 Viasat and TV Danmark 1. On Danish Radio 2 and the new channel TV Danmark2
you can follow the events from the control room of the directors. On 3Plus you
can see the four actors on a split screen.
The concept and shooting of the D-dag project is made by the dogme-brothers
Thomas Vinterberg, Lars Von Trier, Søren Kragh-Jacobsen and Kristian Levring.
The project does not follow the Dogme 95 manifesto.
The final version of D-dag is literally in the hands of the viewers. Equipped
with a remote control each viewer will follow, zap and edit her own version
of D-dag. One thing is certain: No one will watch the same film.
D-day is produced by Nimbus Film. Previously Nimbus Film has produced the Dogme
films 'The Celebration' by Thomas Vinterberg and 'Mifune' by Søren Kragh-jacobsen.
D-day will have its cinema release in year 2000.
