Police reinforcements sent to Indonesian central Sulawesi
Police in the eastern Indonesian district of Poso say 200 reinforcements have arrived,
after renewed attacks on non-Muslims claimed four lives over the weekend.
The deputy police chief in the district in Central Sulawesi, Rudi Trenggono, says the
police arrived on Sunday.
Half are from the paramilitary mobile brigade unit based in East Java, and the rest are
anti-riot police from South Sulawesi.
Mr Trenggono says Poso was calm today but violence may erupt at any time.
Gunmen attacked two villages in Poso's coastal area on Saturday, killing two people
in each of the villages.
