Jakarta court told of strong case against alleged JI chief
Indonesian prosecutors have said in court they have a strong case against the alleged
caretaker leader of the Jemaah Islamiyah terror group, Abu Rusdan.
The defence has argued the charges are vague and incomplete and should be
dropped.
However, prosecutors say their charges have been prepared in detail, and are clear
and complete.
Judges in the South Jakarta district court are due to rule on November 17 whether
Rusdan's trial should go ahead.
He is accused of giving refuge to a key Bali bomber called Mukhlas - five days after
Mukhlas allegedly authorised the bombing of two nightclubs, which killed 202 people.
Prosecutors say Rusdan was appointed acting emir, or leader, of JI during a meeting
in April last year
