US agents can question troops over Papua killings
America's Federal Bureau of Investigation will be allowed to question 15 Indonesian
soldiers over the killing last year of two Americans in Papua province.
The incident has strained ties between Washington and Jakarta.
Reuters newsagency says Indonesian police have not made any arrests or named
any suspects after the incident in August, 2002, in which gunmen shot at a van
carrying teachers from a school run by Freeport Indonesia.
The case has been dogged by accusations that troops might have been involved in the
attack, in which an Indonesian was also killed.
Indonesia's army chief, General Ryamizard Ryacudu, says Indonesian investigators
had questioned 15 of his men over the Papua killings some time ago and they will
now be made available to the US agents.
