Indonesian troops arrest Sulawesi gunmen
Police in Indonesia say security forces have shot dead three gunmen involved in
attacks on mainly Christian villages in Central Sulawesi.
Another eight men have been arrested during a raid on a hideout.
Troops are still searching for five others who fled the raid with explosives and firearms.
The gunmen descended on three coastal villages in the religiously divided district of
Poso last Sunday and killed eight people, most of whom were Christians.
Attackers also killed two people and burned homes elsewhere in the province on the
previous Thursday.
The attacks raised fears of a flare up in Muslim-Christian violence, which has claimed
some 1,000 lives in the district since 2000.
