Reports of 13 men detained in Papua province
Police have reportedly detained 13 men in the Wamena district of Papua province and
transported them to the provincial capital, Jayapura.
Eyewitnesses say the men were among 20 Papuans who had previously been
arrested in connection with flag raising events in 2000.
The men were reportedly taken without warning and no information has been given to
families or lawyers.
It is believed the men have been covertly moved to the main police cells in Jayapura,
and local reports suggest there are now plans to move them to the Indonesian capital,
Jakarta.
