Nine suspected GAM members killed in Aceh
BANDA ACEH (Agencies) : Nine suspected members of the separatist Free Aceh
Movement (GAM) were killed during firefight in the last two days in several districts in
Aceh province, the military said.
Military spokesman Lt. Col A Yani Basuki said that four rebels were killed in Teupin
Tinggi in South Aceh on Monday night. The troops also seized four rifles (one M-16,
two AK-56 and one AK-47).
Five others rebels were killed in clashes in several villages in Aceh on Monday,
Basuki said.
Last Thursday, The government extended martial law for another six months in the
war-torn province.
