Head of Marriott suicide bomber interred
JAKARTA (Antara): The head of Asmar Latin Sani, the suspected suicide bomber in
the Aug. 5 attack on the JW Marriott Hotel, South Jakarta, was buried on Friday in a
cemetery in Kandang village.
Police handed over Asmar's head to his family for burial, Jakarta Police spokesman
Sr. Comm. Prasetyo told reporters.
Asmar's head, recovered from the hotel where he allegedly detonated a car bomb, had
been kept in the morgue of Kramat Jati Police Hospital since August, Prasetyo said.
Police investigators have reconstructed the bombing incident with main suspects
Masrizal, alias Tohir, and Ismail, said to be the supplier and the maker of the bomb,
respectively, he noted.
Police are hunting down other suspects, among them Malaysian nationals Dr. Azahari
and Nordin M. Top.
Dr. Azahari is wanted in connection with several bombings across the country.
Meanwhile, deputy chief Othman of Malaysian Police covering Pulau Penang-Kedan
and Perak, said on Friday in North Sumatra capital Medan that Malaysian authorities
had pledged to apprehend terrorist suspect Dr. Azahari if he is hiding in Malaysia, and
if he is found to have been involved in any bombings on Indonesian soil.
