Kingston Cowboys 9 Battersea Merchants 3 in Battersea
The Cowboys reached the scoreboard in the top of the first inning when catcher Craig Pearce hit a triple to right centre field to score centre fielder Jeff Hannah, who drew a walk to lead off the game. Battersea tied the score in the bottom of the inning when catcher Devin Lake hit a two out homerun to left field. In the second inning, the Cowboys took control of the game, scoring four times. Second baseman David Purdon reached base on an error and later scored on an RBI single by right fielder Tim Murphy. Pitcher Jon Swaine the followed with a double to right field that scored both Murphy and Hannah, who had singled. Pearce followed with a single up the middle to drive in the fourth run of the inning. Battersea loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning but Swaine was able to strikeout the next two batters to end the threat. Left fielder Brandon Burtch led off the third inning for the Cowboys and was hit by a pitch. Purdon singled to left field to make the score 6-1. The Cowboys added single runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to stretch the lead to 8-1. Murphy was hit by pitch to lead off the fourth and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Pearce, who drove in his third run of the game. In the fifth, Burtch led off with a double and scored on Purdon's second RBI single of the game. Battersea scored two runs in the fifth. Second baseman Chris Switzer singled to lead off the inning and scored on an RBI double to right centre field by first baseman Jason Moodie. Pitcher Mike Paul then followed with a single to centre field to score Moodie to make the score 8-3. The Cowboys ended the scoring in the seventh when Burtch was again hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and later scored on an RBI double to right field by pinch hitter Josh Vanderzande.
