Kingston Cowboys 4 Enterprise Mortgage
Intelligence 3 in Inverary
Enterprise opened the scoring in
the top of the second inning on an RBI single to left field by first baseman
Larry McNeill that scored catcher Adam Jelley, who had reached base on a walk.
Enterprise extended their lead in the third when shortstop John Hayes reached
base on an infield single, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on an RBI
single by pitcher Lyle Brown. The Cowboys tied the score in the home half of
the fourth inning scoring twice. Second baseman Jon Swaine led off the inning
with a deep homerun to left field to cut the deficit to 2-1. Back-to-back walks
to catcher Craig Pearce and shortstop Doug Kane and an error loaded the bases
for third baseman Jamie Purdon, who delivered a sacrifice fly to right field to
score Pearce to tie the game. Enterprise wasted no time regaining the lead,
scoring once in the top of the fifth inning. Left fielder Ryan Gibbons led off
the inning with a single up the middle followed by second baseman Albert
Jelley's single to put runners on first and third. Centre fielder Andy Brown
then hit into a run scoring fielder's choice to give Enterprise the lead.
Enteprise threatened again in the top of the seventh loading the bases with one
out but pitcher Adam Garrison was able to get out of the jam. In the bottom of
the inning designated player Josh Vanderzande hit a one out single to left
field. Centre fielder Jeff Hannah then hit a triple to left centre field to tie
the game. After an out and an intentional walk to Swaine, Pearce battled to a
full count and then hit a ball to the third base side of shortstop that was kept
in the infield but Pearce safely reached first and Hannah crossed the plate to
end the game.

Napanee Express Midgets 7 Napanee Minor
Midgets 4 in a 4 point game played in Napanee.
WP: Jordan MacDonald
LP: Nick Brooks
This was a tough game for the teams to get into having played each other hard at
the eliminations and the provincials this seemed a bit anti climatic add to that
the fact that Brooks and Mills just got back from playing with the other team at
the nationals and you can understand that the intensity level was not peaking.
Jordan MacDonald gave up 7 hits, struck out 5 and issued 1 walk to get the win. Nick Brooks gave up 10 hits struck out 5 and walked 2. Offensively Craig McGarvey went 2 for 3 with an RBI and scored two runs. Nate Moffat was 2 for 4 with runs scored and an RBI. Brent Mills went 2 for 4 and had 2 RBI.
Lucas McNeil was 1 for 3 for the other midget squad with 2 RBI.
Battersea Merchants 2 Napanee Express

Second game of the night for the National champs. A possible lock on third place in the league standings on the line and a 2 2 draw let the teams split the points.
Andy Madden did the work in the circle for the Express 5 hits 8 k's 2 walks and Chris Switzer 2 hits, 2 k's and 3 walks and Kurt Clarke 2 hits 4 ks' and no walks split the work for the Merchants. Batersea opened the scoring in the top of the first when Greg Dixon singled and came all the way home on Devon Lakes double that was misplayed and allowed Lake to score as well. The Express got one back in their half of the inning when Mike Roantree drew a walk and Ben Tee drove him in.
