The Cowboys opened the scoring in the top of the first inning, with one out
right fielder Tim Murphy singled to right field and moved to third base on a

North Fred Kings 5 Kingston Cowboys 3 in North
Fred
The North Fred Kings moved into first place handing the Cowboys their first
loss of the season. Both teams scored in their first and last at bats. In the
top of the first inning right fielder Tim Murphy reached on an infield single
and moved to third on a double by pitcher Jon Swaine. Murphy then put the
Cowboys in front when he scored on a passed ball. North Fred didn't waste any
time in responding, tying the game in the home half of the inning. Left fielder
Steve Cooke led off the inning with a double and scored one out later on an RBI
single to left field by pitcher Cory Brooks. The score remained tied at one
until the bottom of the sixth inning when North Fred pushed four runs across the
plate. Second baseman Bryan Detlor singled to lead off the inning. After the
next two batters were retired, right fielder Bryan Brooks tripled off of the
centre field fence to put North Fred in the lead. Shortstop Jamie Thompson then
followed with a single to score Brooks. Pinch hitter Keith Cunningham then
singled to centrefield to score Thompson and on the play scored himself when the
ball went past the fielder to the fence. The Cowboys attempted a comeback in
the top of the seventh, eventually getting the tying run to the plate, however
the rally fell short. Third baseman Ryan Sharpe led off the inning with a
triple to right centre field and scored on an RBI single to left by left fielder
Brandon Burtch. Two outs later, centre fielder Jeff Hannah singled to right
field to score Burtch to make the final score 5-3.
