Game #5
Monday, August 29
Moscow rallied from a 2 games to 1 series deficit to win the series
in Game #5. Battersea opened the scoring in the top of the first
inning, scoring one run against Moscow starter Greg Garrity.
Second baseman Justin Sleeth drew a one out walk to start the rally and
later scored when starting pitcher Kirk Bertrim reached base on an error.
Garrity was able to shut down the Battersea offense from that point on,
only allowing two more Battersea batters to reach base. Moscow replied
quickly in the bottom of the first inning. First baseman Jay Sutton
led off with a single, was sacrificed to second base and scored on second
baseman Joe Reid's RBI double. Reid scored later in the inning when
catcher Chris Reid hit an RBI single. Moscow added another run in
the third inning when Joe Reid led off with a double and Garrity followed
with an RBI triple to right field.
