Game #1
Tuesday, August 28
In a game played at the Township Diamond in Inverary, Sunbury opened
the scoring in the home half of the first inning. Left fielder Terry
Orr drew a one out walk from Enterprise starter Kevin Brown and moved around
the bases on pass balls, eventually scoring the opening run of the series.
Enterprise responded in the second inning, scoring once to tie the game.
Brown hit a one out single to start the rally. After moving to second
on a pass ball, the next batter hit a ball toward shortstop, that hit Brown
as he was running. The umpires ruled that the ball could not have
been played by the infielder an allowed the play to continue, allowing
Brown to score. Enterprise took the lead in the top of the fifth
inning when second baseman Todd Martin hit a change up over the fence in
right field for a home run. Sunbury rallied in the sixth inning when
catcher Cory Gee singled to lead off the inning and shortstop Darryl Barker
drew a walk. Second baseman Corey Fowler then hit a ground rule double
down the right field line to score Gee. Barker was then retired on
a fielder's choice at the plate leaving runners on first and second with
one out. A pass ball moved the runner's into scoring position and
another pass ball allowed Fowler to score the go ahead run. Enterprise
first baseman Larry McNeill then battled Sunbury pitcher Kirk Sudds to
lead of the seventh inning and eventually was rewarded with a walk.
Albert Jelley replaced McNeill as the runner and advanced to second on
a pass ball. Designated player Brian Murphy then delivered a clutch
two out hit over shortstop to drive in the tying run. Sunbury first
baseman Dan Irwin then lead off the seventh inning with a walk off home
run to deep right field to win the ball game.

Game #5
Thursday, September 6
In yet another one run game in this series, Sunbury was able to solve
the pitching duel first in the 10th inning. The pitchers from both
teams controlled the game, only having to pitch out of minor jams during
the game. Enterprise starter Kevin Brown held Sunbury to only two
hits in the first seven innings, but Sunbury managed four hits in the three
extra innings, including two in the tenth. Sunbury starter Kirk Sudds
allowed five Enterprise hits in the first seven innings but held Enterprise
to no base runners during the three extra innings. Enterprise had
a runner in scoring position each of the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and
seventh innings but they were unable to pick up a key hit. Sunbury's
best chance came in the fourth inning when centre fielder Paul Tolles led
off with a single. Catcher Cory Gee then received a walk and both
runners advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Brown was able to retire the
next two batters via strikeouts to get out of the jam. Sunbury stranded
runners in scoring position in the seventh, eigth and ninth innings before
winning the game in the tenth. Sudds led off the inning with a single
up the middle and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by right fielder
Jason Norman. After a strikeout, Tolles hit a single between third
base and shortstop that allowed Sudds to cross the plate.

Game #7
Wednesday, September 12
Moscow will definitely have a hard time repeating the series that Sunbury
and Enterprise put on. In a fitting end to a series that went seven
games, with three of them needing extra innings to determine a winner,
Sunbury was able to pull out a 3-2 victory over Enterprise in 10 innings.
In the seven game series each team had two shutout victories and Sunbury
outscored Enterprise 15-14. On Wednesday evening in Inverary, Sunbury
was the team to reach the scoreboard first. In the bottom of the
fourth inning, centre fielder Paul Tolles led off with a triple down the
right field line. The next batter, catcher Cory Gee, then hit a ground
ball to the third baseman. The throw from third was wide of first
base and allowed Gee to reach safely and Tolles to score. Enterprise
responded in the top of the fifth inning with a lead off single by catcher
Lester Brown and a two out single by first baseman Larry McNeill off of
Sunbury starter Kirk Sudds that scored Brown. Sunbury regained the
lead in the home half of the fifth. Third baseman Dave Walsh hit
a one out double down the left field line and scored when right fielder
Jason Norman drove a single into right centre field. Enterprise once
again was able to stage a seventh inning comeback to force the game into
extra innings. Shortstop Ian Birrell singled to lead off the inning
off of reliever Craig Hollingsworth and was sacrificed to second by McNeill.
Right fielder Adam Jelley, in his first plate appearance of the game, then
hit a single up the middle that scored Birrell with the tying run.
Both teams made spectacular defensive plays during the game, highlighted
in the bottom of the ninth inning when Birrell made a diving grab at shortstop
and was able to double up the runner at second base to end the inning and
in the top of the tenth when Enterprise pitcher Kevin Brown hit a line
drive that second baseman Darryl Barker made a diving play to record the
out. In the bottom of the tenth, left fielder Terry Orr led off with
a single in to left field. Walsh followed with a high chopper up
the middle that resulted in a infield single with Orr moving to second
base. Norman then laid down a sacrifice bunt that moved the runners
to second and third. Hollingsworth then hit a deep fly ball to centre
field that scored Orr with the series winning run.
