'US "MAKING PROGRESS IN HUNT FOR ARMS"
'Progress is being made in the search for Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, a senior US official has said.
'David Kay, a former UN inspector [and also a former and/or present CIA man — i.e. one of the spies complained of by Saddam?], refused to say if any chemical or biological arms had been found.
'However he said Iraqi scientists were "collaborating [!] and cooperating".
'Speaking after a closed-door briefing to a US Senate committee, he said evidence had been found showing how Iraq has misled UN inspectors.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.105)
'CHILE, SINGAPORE CLINCH US TRADE DEAL
'Singapore and Chile are the first nations in Asia and South America to get free trade agreements with the US.
'The US Senate's backing for the two deals follows their approval in the House of Representatives.
'At present only four countries have free trade deals with Washington — Canada, Mexico, Israel and Jordan.
'A senior Democrat said the new deals will "usher in a new era of enhanced economic ties" with the two countries.'
(BBC Ceefax, 1 Aug. 03, p.106)
North Korea has reportedly agreed [when do we EVER hear it straight from the horse's mouth?] to six-way nuclear talks (apparently including Russia).
(BBC Ceefax, 1 Aug. 03, p.106)
Admiral Poindexter is to quit his Pentagon job following uproar over the (now-abandoned) terror-bet market.
(ITV Teletext, 1 Aug. 03, p.313/2)
Does this include his job as head of DARPA's Total Information Awareness — sorry, Terrorism Information Awareness — project?
FBI TRACES 9/11 FUNDING TO PAKISTAN
'Investigators have traced the funding for the September 11 attacks on the US to al-Qaeda accounts in Pakistan, a top FBI official has told a Senate panel.
'The FBI estimates the September 11 attacks cost up to £165,000 — for flight training [they were cheated!!!!!], travel and expenses.
'John Pistole, of the counter-terrorism division, said that the money flowed to the hijackers through associates in Germany and the United Arab Emirates.'
(ITV Teletext, 1 Aug. 03, p.313/1)
All this is hypocrisy from the purged, cabalized FBI. The Pakistani "connections" are already public knowledge. They are playing a knife-edged game, because standing right behind the Pakistani organizations were the CIA.
Microsoft's Web Site Brought Down By Attack: Denial of service is blamed ...
John Foley, InformationWeek, 1 Aug. 03
'Microsoft's Web site was made inaccessible for an hour and 40 minutes Friday afternoon [31 July] when a denial-of-service attack overwhelmed the site with traffic, making it impossible for legitimate page requests to get through.
'The outage, which began about 1:21 p.m. Pacific time [5:21am British Summer Time], was the result of a conventional denial-of-service attack and not a software vulnerability being exploited, a Microsoft spokesman says.
'That distinction is important because the software company issued a bulletin July 14 warning customers of a critical vulnerability in its Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 operating systems. Following that notice, the Department of Homeland security issued its own advisory warning consumers and businesses to patch their computer systems. ...'
'The voice on a new taped message urging Iraqis to rise up against US forces is "highly likely" to be Saddam Hussein's the CIA has said after analysis. ...'
(BBC Ceefax, 1 Aug. 03, p.107)
'The Daily Telegraph reports that the US has found evidence of an active programme to make ... weapons [of mass destruction in Iraq].
'The paper calls it a "potential lifeline" for Tony Blair to justify the war to the public.'
(BBC Ceefax, 1 Aug. 03, p.148, reviews of British papers)
Lord Hutton, conducting the inquiry into Dr David Kelly's death, struck a blow for the suicide theory by saying Kelly removed his watch and glasses (before slashing his wrist). The former to gain access to his wrist, the latter ... well, because suicides often dump accessories before doing it, don't they? Also, Hutton revealed that Kelly had a heart condition.
Dick Cheney Has Long Planned To Loot Iraqi Oil
Scott Thompson, Executive Intelligence Review, 1 Aug. 03
'... Vice President Dick Cheney has been plotting the conquest of Iraq since he was Secretary of Defense in President George H.W. Bush's Administration [1988-92] — a plan then considered insane aggression. Moreover, on July 17, 2003, Judicial Watch announced that Cheney's Energy Task Force had developed a map of Iraq dated March 2001, as well as maps of the neighboring United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) and Saudi Arabia, which show that Cheney knew precisely how much the conquest of Iraq would be worth.
'The map, which shows oilfields, pipelines, tanker terminals, and refineries, included eight "blocks" for exploration near the border with Saudi Arabia. Iraq has been proven to have the second-highest amount of oil reserves of any nation in the world, next to Saudi Arabia. And, this is without exploration of the eight blocks ...
'... the U.S. Export-Import Bank is circulating a plan that calls for securitizing future oil revenues from Iraq in order to pay for reconstruction contracts. ...
Halliburton, Cheney's company, is actively promoting the "securitization" of Iraq's oil. The stakes are enormous. A spokesman for Platt's Energy news service [said] that Iraq's oil output, within a few years, could be 5 million barrels per day, at a significantly lower cost than oil from other sources. ...
'The [Export-Import] Bank plan which is also being pushed by the occupation [Coalition Provisional Authority], headed by former Kissinger Associates executive L. Paul Bremer, is to restructure Iraq's debt and reparation obligations. ...'

BRITISH MINISTRY OF DEFENCE DENIES TRYING TO BURN KELLY PLAN
'The Ministry of Defence has denied a report that it sought to destroy a document relating to Dr David Kelly.
'The Daily Telegraph said MoD security guards called in police after finding a "media plan" in a sack of material due to be burned three days after his death [by MoD staff].
'MoD sources said there had been a "security breach" when a bag containing confidential material was left out.
'But it said it was not aware anything in the bag related to Dr Kelly.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.111)
'INCREASED FEARS OVER THREAT TO NET
'US Government experts say they have received reports that hackers are set to take advantage of a vital flaw in Microsoft's Windows system. [What a mass of these there seems to have been!]
'The flaws could be used by a virus to disrupt web traffic and infect millions of computers world-wide.
'Microsoft announced the release of a free patch for the fault two weeks ago.
'Since then, hacker activity has increased, with intruders looking for computers that are open to attacks.'
(BBC Ceefax, 2 Aug. 03, p.154)
Get with the program, kiddies. Be seeing you.

A convention of the US Episcopal Church has approved (by a 2-1 majority) a practising homosexual as bishop of New Hampshire. This has to be ratified by the bishops. The move is thought likely to cause a split in the Anglican Church worldwide.
4 August 03
The British Government has called Dr David Kelly a "Walter Mitty" fantasist who exaggerated his own importance.
To possible assassination, it has now added character assassination.
5 August 03
British government spokesman Tom Kelly has apologized "unreservedly" for calling Dr David Kelly a "Walter Mitty fantasist" (whatever the "justification" for it).
I'd like to see some real headlines for once; e.g.
BRITISH GOVERNMENT APOLOGIZES UNRESERVEDLY FOR BEING PUPPET OF THE US PETROLEUM CABAL SINCE SEPT 11, 2001;
... FOR CONTINUING TO SUPPORT THE CABAL'S PLANS FOR FURTHER AGGRANDIZEMENT, AGAINST IRAN, SAUDI ARABIA, ETC;
... FOR PLANNING TO SET UP A CARD-CARRYING POLICE STATE, AS MUCH AS AN EXPERIMENT FOR ITS CABALISTIC MASTERS AS FOR ITSELF ...
a bishops' convention of the US Episcopal Church has confirmed the Rev. Gene Robinson as the first practising-homosexual bishop in the US.
This is tame stuff compared with the 100%-unprejudiced Church of the Second Coming of the Profit Microsoft, which regularly ordains atheists, paedophiles, Satanists, and indeed people of all persuasions, to all positions in its hierarchy.

'TROOPS HEAVY-HANDED, US GENERAL ADMITS
[But when were they anything else?]
'The "iron-fist" [not to mention ham-fisted] approach of US troops has alienated Iraqis and may have been counter-productive,, the commander of the US-led forces in Iraq has admitted.
'Lt-Gen Ricardo Sanchez told the New York Times big military searches had led some Iraqis to seek revenge.
'US commanders say they will now limit raids to "higher precision" searches.
'In the latest raid, a suspected leader of Saddam Hussein's loyalist militia and two former generals were captured.'
(BBC Ceefax)
Twelve people were killed and about 60 injured (mostly Iraqis) by a massive car-bomb which exploded outside the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad. Afterwards, a mob invaded the building.

'US OFFICIALS DISCUSSING "MINI-NUKES"
'US defence officials have been discussing the development of a new generation of nuclear weapons at a top-level meeting behind closed doors.
'Known as mini-nukes, [they might have a yield of around 5 kilotons,] the missiles would be designed to bore deep underground before exploding and destroying bunkers.
'Their viability was the focus of the meeting at US Strategic Air Command in Nebraska, leaked Pentagon papers reveal.
'Former Vice-President Al Gore described the development plans as "true madness".'
(BBC Ceefax)
'MOUSSAOUI TRIAL "MAY MOVE"
'The judge in the case of September 11 defendant Zacarias Moussaoui has said the trial may end up being moved to a military tribunal.
'The move could happen after she ruled the terrorism suspect would be allowed to question an al-Qaeda prisoner.
'The judge has ruled that the US Constitution gives Moussaoui the right to question witnesses who might help his case.'
(ITV Teletext, 8 Aug. 03, p.309)
The law is taking on the perverse logic of totalitarianism. I'm reminded of those in the French Revolution who argued that mass killings of prisoners by cannon-fire was "more humane" than keeping them in prison waiting to be executed in batches by guillotine.

'IRAQI EX-DIPLOMAT DENIES URANIUM SOUGHT
'A former Iraqi diplomat has rejected UK claims he was trying to buy uranium on an official trip to Niger in 1999.
'The [UK] Government insists [he/Iraq] tried to buy uranium, despite papers which it claimed showed a deal with the West African state being proved false.
'But Wissam al-Zahawie said his mission was to invite Niger's president to Iraq.
'He said everyone including the US and United Nations had cleared him and he was surprised by UK "question-marks".'

Quote of the month ...
"If we don't succeed here, we'll be fighting on American soil, and that's not going to happen."
Ricardo Sanchez, supreme commander of US forces in Iraq, on catching Saddam and mastering the situation in the country.
A de facto acknowledgement that, if the whole oil conspiracy folds in on itself, a new American civil war may be the price to pay.
First day of Hutton inquiry in Britain. Dr David Kelly confirmed as top biochem adviser.

A postponed bio/chem exercise is to be staged at Bank station on the London Underground on September 7.
And how are they planning to "celebrate" this unhappy anniversary??
Day two of Hutton inquiry. BBC reporter stands by his story, with provisos. His interview notes with Dr Kelly were over-brief (one word : "Campbell" ...).
Two suicide bombs, in Israel and the west Bank, mar truce. Hamas claims responsibility for one.
'WINDOWS WORM BLASTS ACROSS THE WEB
'A Microsoft Windows worm dubbed MSBlast has been spreading quickly across the net and swamping connections.
'On infected machines the malicious program also launches an attack against the Microsoft site that holds a software patch to keep the worm out. [But if Microsoft can't even defend itself, what price its patch??]
'Security firms warn tens of thousands of computers could fall victim to it.
'The worm may find a lot of hosts as it exploits a vulnerability found in many different versions of Windows.'

'MAN HELD OVER "MISSILE SMUGGLING PLOT"
'A UK arms dealer has been detained in the US over an alleged plot to supply a surface-to-air missile to terrorists.
'The man, an arms dealer, was arrested in New Jersey after a sting operation, involving the US Russia and Britain.
'Officials claimed he imported a Russian Igla missile into the US and that he hoped to sell it to a Muslim extremist.
'The BBC understand the dealer wanted the missile used to shoot down the president's plane, Airforce One.'
(BBC Ceefax, 12 Aug. 03)
'... The middle-aged man of Indian origin is believed to be an arms dealer and was detained by the FBI in New Jersey.
'A report said the man was "looking for terrorists to fire the missile at Air Force One ... The FBI denied this.'
(ITV Teletext, 12 Aug. 03, p.307)
The undercover FBI man apparently suggested a commercial target but the arms dealer suggested Air Force One, and suggested 50 Iglas would be sufficient.

'"MISSILE PLOT" BRITON APPEARS IN COURT
'A UK arms dealer has been charged in America over an alleged plot to smuggle a surface-to-air missile into the US.
'Hekmat Lakhani, 68, and two other men were taken into custody on Tuesday after a five-month US, Russian and UK operation to intercept the missile.
'Mr Lakhani was charged at the court, in Newark, New Jersey, on aiding terrorists and illegal arms dealing.
'Moinuddeen Ahmed Hameed faces charges of money-laundering. The third man is due to appear at a different court.'

'A man described as al-Qaeda's chief operational planner in South East Asia is being held in United States custody.
'White House spokesman Scott McClellan said the arrest of Ridwan bin Isomuddin — also known as Hambali — represented "a significant blow to the enemy".
'Hambali's terrorist group, Jemaah Islamiya, has been linked to last year's Bali bombings and a series of attacks on churches in the Philippines.'

'US/CANADA HIT BY SIMULTANEOUS POWER CUTS
'Simultaneous power cuts have hit New York and other major cites in the [north-eastern] United States and [eastern] Canada, according to reports.
'New York's airports and major facilities are said to be hit with many passengers being stuck in subways.
'The Canadian cities of Ottawa and Toronto as well as Detroit and Cleveland in the US are also affected.
'New York's mayor Michael Bloomburg said there was "no evidence of terrorism".'
(BBC Ceefax, 14 Aug. 03 at 10pm BST, p.114)
Whatever the verbal protestations of the US cabal's minions, such events all serve to stoke up an atmosphere of "terror", and are thus grist to the mill of petro-imperialism.
'GAMMA BOMB "MAY START NEW ARMS RACE"
'American scientists are working on a gamma-ray bomb, which will create a huge energy burst without nuclear fission, according to New Scientist magazine.
'The gamma rays would kill anything in close range with little atomic fallout.
'One gram of the gamma explosive has the power of 50 kilograms of TNT, giving enormous battlefield power.
'But experts are worried that countries threatened by gamma weapons would resort to acquiring nuclear ones.'

We're now being asked to believe that a lightning strike (one of Zeus's, not bin Laden's) blacked out the north-east of the North-American continent. (BBC Ceefax, p.104)
'The area affected included New York state, New Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and in Canada, Toronto and Ottawa.
'The cause of the power cuts across the US and Canada has been likened to a blow-out in a giant fuse box.
'Powergrid expert Steve Allen said it had cascaded through the electricity network, which is all interconnected with a great deal of power sharing.

'NIGERIAN OIL CITY CLASHES PROMPT CURFEW
'Officials in Nigeria have imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the Niger Delta oil city of Warri after renewed fighting between rival ethnic groups.
'Up to 20 people were reported dead and dozens of homes torched in a resumption of violence between members of the Itsekiri and Ijaw peoples.
'Automatic weapons fire has been heard in the Macive district of the city.
'Ethnic clashes in Warri in March killed dozens of people and caused major disruption to the area's oil industry.'
(BBC Ceefax, 17 Aug. 03)
Condy Rice's company ChevronTexaco has long been involved in the Niger Delta. The company has been involved in policing the area. It seems entirely possible that the US oil cabal is stirring up dissention here too, the better to have an excuse to take over.

'BIN LADEN ALIVE, "AL-QAEDA" TAPE CLAIMS
'Osama Bin Laden is alive and well, an audio recording purportedly from a leading spokesman for the al-Qaeda group has said.
'UAE-based Al-Arabiya TV attributed the recording to Abdel Rahman al-Nadji, an al-Qaeda official in Afghanistan.
'Al-Hadji also urged Iraqis to continue fighting against occupying US troops.

'PROBE CALL OVER IRAQ CAMERAMAN'S DEATH
'Journalists' groups have called for an inquiry into how US troops shot dead a Reuters cameraman in Iraq.
'Palestinian Mazen Dana, 43, was shot outside Abu Ghraib prison on Sunday [yesterday], where a mortar attack killed six Iraqis and left around 60 injured.
'US military spokesmen said US troops had wrongly thought his camera was a rocket-propelled grenade-launcher. [Reporters on British Channel 4 News denied the camera could have been misrecognized in this way.]

'AMNESTY SLAMS GUANTANAMO "BAD EXAMPLE"
'The activities of the US at its naval base in Guantanamo Bay could encourage other countries to infringe human rights, Amnesty International claims.
'The US was setting a "bad example" by interning suspects without trial at the Camp Delta base in Cuba and at Afghan jails, a report by Amnesty warns.
'Guantanamo detainees were subject to a "parallel justice" system, it says.
'The US is on a "slippery slope" to a world where "arbitrary unchallengable detention" is acceptable, Amnesty warns.'

TOP IRAQ UN OFFICIAL KILLED IN TRUCK-BOMB ATTACK ON UN HQ
Sergio Vieira de Mello, and at least a dozen others, was killed when an apparent suicide truck-bomber drove through a perimeter fence and into the front of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad. The attack was evidently targeted on Mr de Mello's office. The blast broke windows a mile away.

'SUICIDE BOMBER TARGETS BUS [in Israel]
'A suicide bomber has blown up a bus packed with people returning from the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, killing at least 20 people and wounding 100.

'Israel has frozen talks which were to pave the way for the handing over of four West Bank towns back into Palestianian control.'

Israel has sealed off the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
UN spokesmen denied a report that the UN was evacuating its non-Iraqi staff from Baghdad to Jordan. [But it quickly became apparent that they are evacuating at least some of their staff, 21, 22 August.]
The World Bank and IMF are evacuating their small staffs (12 and 4 people respectively) from Baghdad to Jordan (where they were before the war).
'[Soham] DETECTIVE CLEARED OF CHILD PORN CHARGES
'The detective who helped the family of Soham murder victim Jessica Chapman has been cleared of possessing child porn.
'Detective Constable Brian Stevens was also cleared of charges of indecent assault on the direction of a judge at Snaresbrook Crown Court, London.
'The prosecution offered no evidence on three counts of assault, three of distributing indecent photos of a child and five of possessing indecent photos.
'Cambridgeshire Police says he remains suspended until "matters are resolved".'
(BBC Ceefax, 20 Aug. 03, p.111)
The prosecution said that telephone records "which would have helped convict Stevens" were no longer available. Stevens said that many people could have had access to his laptop computer (and thus be responsible for the downloaded child porn).
Did they consider the other possibility — that anyone could have uploaded them to his laptop?

The Daily Mail details the stories of the two girls who claimed [DC Brian Stevens] indecently assaulted them — charges also dropped.
"Mr Stevens' "future remains uncertain" subject to an internal police inquiry, the Daily Telegraph [says].

Stevens says there should be an inquiry into the whole case.
"Chemical Ali" has been captured.

Hamas has declared an end to its "truce" after the Israelis assassinated one of its top men.
But how it can say this after it has already claimed responsibility for the suicide bus bombing, I don't know.
Dubai-based Al-Arabiya TV said it received a statement from a previously unknown group, calling itself the "Armed Vanguard of the Second Mohammed Army", claiming responsibility for the UN bombing in Iraq.

'AUSTRALIA[n government] "TWISTED IRAQ INTELLIGENCE"
'The Australian [conservative-coalition] government has been accused of exaggerating the case for war in Iraq, at the start of an inquiry into its decision to send troops there.
'Former intelligence analyst Andrew Wilkie, who resigned in March in protest, said intelligence information had been distorted.

US smallpox vaccination plan grinds to a halt
New Scientist, 22 Aug. 03
'A plan to vaccinate nearly half a million healthcare workers in the US against smallpox in case of a bioterrorist attack has ground to a halt. Only 38,257 people have accepted vaccination, less than a tenth as many as planned. ...
'The vaccination programme was announced by President Bush in December 2002. The first phase was to be mandatory smallpox vaccinations for half a million military personnel, and voluntary vaccinations for another half a million "first responders" — the healthcare workers needed to carry out emergency vaccination and treat victims during an outbreak. ...
'But doctors and nurses stayed away in droves. The vaccine is a live virus that can spread from person to person and might have harmed patients, especially those with impaired immunity. Major hospitals, such as the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, refused to have any of their staff vaccinated.
'Add to this mounting scepticism about the likelihood of a smallpox attack, and it now seems clear there will be no flood of volunteers ...
'The second phase, in which the vaccine was to be offered to millions more healthcare workers and the public, was quietly shelved by the CDC in June, after recently vaccinated soldiers and civilians developed complications. ...'
The smallpox campaign was just one part of the terrorist bogeyman which the Bush regime (the puppet-masters behind Bush) cooked up to whip the public into supporting their ongoing campaign of oil-conquests. They are the terrorists who menace the West.
Al-Qaeda was a CIA protege with whom the Company apparently kept links up to the eve of 9/11 itself. The 9/11 attacks were almost certainly carried out, either by Qaeda suicide bombers ultimately and covertly directed by the CIA, or directly by a CIA cell by remote handling of the airliners.

'BOSTON ABUSE PRIEST KILLED IN PRISON
'The ex-priest at the centre of a child sex abuse scandal in Boston has been killed in prison, US officials say.
'John Geoghan, 67, was accused of abusing more than 130 children over three decades and was convicted of indecent assault in January 2002.
'The case caused a scandal when it was revealed that the Catholic church had shuttled Geoghan between parishes despite warnings about his behaviour.

'PALESTINIANS SPLIT OVER SECURITY ISSUES
'Further divisions have emerged within the Palestinian leadership about who should be in charge of security issues.
'The Palestinian Authority is under pressure from [the] US and Israel to crack down on militant groups.
'President Yasser Arafat is backing a proposal to nominate a leading member of his Fatah movement, Nasser Yousef, for the post of interior minister.
'The move appears to challenge security chief Mohammed Dahlan, who is backed by the Prime Minister, Mahmoud Abbas.'

The de facto policy of Israel and its Big Brother, to divide and conquer/rule, appears to be bearing fruit. Mahmoud Abbas is a wedge planted by them.

Two car bombings in Mumbai (Bombay) have killed at least 50 and injured 150. (Mumbai is India's financial capital.)
'The city has been hit by a series of attacks blamed on ["students" loyal to] Pakistan-based Islamists Lashkar-e-Taiba. Islamabad has condemned the latest attacks.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.104)
An Indian government spokesman said the central government would step in if the provincial government couldn't cope.
Which may be the idea of the attacks.
The Red Cross is the latest organization to announce a partial withdrawal of its staff from Iraq.
But in spite of all this,
'US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said no more US troops are needed in Iraq for the time being. ...
'All was going well, Mr Rumsfeld said ...'
(BBC Ceefax, 25 Aug. 03, p.107)
And it may be, from their viewpoint. In spite of attacks on easy-to-sabotage oil pipelines. This is a continuation of their covetous protection and support of oil facilities at the expense of the rest of Iraq. And of their "diplomatic bombing" of constitutional institutions like the UN. The hordes of Islamists alleged to be pouring across the border from Saudi Arabia are a convenient excuse to invade that country too.

John Scarlett, the chairman of Britain's Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC), testified today at the Hutton enquiry into the death of Dr John Kelly. He said he was solely responsible for compiling the September 2002 "Iraqi WMD" dossier, and that the claim that they could have been ready in 45 minutes could in fact have been closer to 20 minutes. How's that for top brass!
However, he said that the claim referred to battlefield weapons, not strategic ones/missiles. Moreover, the single source from which the "information" came was second-hand (though Scarlett described it as "an established and reliable line of reporting"). The source had got it from an Iraqi artillery officer.
John Scarlett's appearance at a public inquiry is described as unprecedented. He is a career MI6 man, having joined the service straight out of university in 1971, and eventually becoming chief of MI6. In September 2001 he became chairman of the JIC — a date which thus looks the more pivotal in the victory of conspiracy-politics.
I saw "The Trials of Henry Kissinger", a documentary about the man's "war criminality", originally shown by BBC 4 in 2002, now on BBC 2. Dealing with his "machinations" in regard to Cambodia, Chile and East Timor during the Nixon and Ford presidencies (1969 - 1976).
At the end of the programme we learned that:-
On Sept. 11, 2001, 28 years to the day after the Pinochet coup in Chile, Rene Schneider (son of the anti-coup head of the Chilean armed forces, assassinated "on Kissinger's orders" in 1970), announced his intention to bring a lawsuit against Kissinger over the death. The news was overshadowed by the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
It would doubtless be going too far to suggest that Kissinger ordered the 9/11 attacks to divert attention from his past misdeeds. But if, as I speculate, Kissinger is indeed the leading figure in the current US oil cabal and its petro-imperial policy, then he must have been the ultimate author of the key event which allowed this policy to be put into practice. And if it could incidentally damp investigations into his previous misdeeds, so much the better for him.
'The Central Intelligence Agency has fingered Saudi Arabia as the leading financier of the Sunni insurgency claiming American lives in Iraq daily.
'A CIA report which cites the activities of major Islamic insurgency groups in the country and their state sponsors was disclosed by Kurdish sources in Iraq to the London-based Al Hayat daily, according to a translation by Middle East Newsline.
'Al Hayat reported U.S. intelligence officials assert Iran, Saudi Arabia and Syria have contributed insurgents and funding to a range of groups, including alQaida and Hezbollah. ...'

For all its supposed criticism of the Bush administration, the far-right publication WorldNetDaily shares the same aims as far as empire-building is concerned, and repeats the same agitprop in support of it. Only in the end-aims of who shall control this empire does it diverge ...

(ITV Teletext, p.328, reviews of British papers)
"ID cards to be tested in a small market town" is the Guardian headline.

'SAUDIS HIT OUT AT US CLAIMS [on "jihadis going to Iraq"]
The Saudi government has challenged the Bush administration to prove its claims that Saudi citizens have travelled to Iraq to fight American troops.
'Saudi foreign policy adviser Adel al-Jubeir said his government had offered to send its own team to help US officials identify any possible Saudis.
'He also said Saudi guards were on full patrol of its Iraqi border, but that US troops had failed to secure their side.'
(ITV Teletext, p.313)
'N KOREA AND US IN TOUGH WEAPON STANCE
'North Korea and the US have adopted tough positions on the first day of six-nation talks in Beijing on Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions.
'Pyongyang says it is preparing a deterrent for US attacks, without giving further details, and repeated its demand for a non-aggression treaty.
'The US reasserted its position that N Korea must abandon nuclear ambitions.
'Chief Russian envoy Alexander Losyukov said there was still a wide gap between Pyongyang and Washington.'
(BBC Ceefax, 27 Aug. 03)
The British government is pressing ahead with plans for biometric ID cards for immigrants, which some see as another wedge (cf. yesterday) for ID cards for the population as a whole.
(It's also floated the idea of installing a monitoring microchip in every car.)

'The September dossier on Iraq's weapons was not designed to make the case for an immediate war, the Prime Minister [Tony Blair] has told the Hutton Inquiry. ...'
(BBC Ceefax, p.106)
Here are some other facts you urgently need to know:-
But seriously, folks. The only reason that they did not immediately attack Iraq last autumn was the strength of popular opposition to such an invasion.
The Earth is flat; black is white; politicians always tell the truth.
A power cut in south London has mimicked, in a modest British way, that in north-eastern North America. It lasted about half-an-hour, but occurred at rush hour, affecting 1,800 trains. A professor interviewed on BBC Newsnight said he thought that there was a 20% chance of power cuts around about this December, but was surprised it happened in August.
'APPARENT STALEMATE IN NORTH KOREA TALKS
'A second day of talks aimed at easing the crisis over North Korea's nuclear weapons programme has ended with no sign of any breakthrough.
'Delegates from the US, North Korea, China, Japan, Russia and South Korea met in Beijing for almost four hours.
'Both North Korea and the US are reportedly sticking to tough positions outlined in previous months.
'Japan and Russia are said to have had one-to-one talks with N Korea and the US had an informal meeting on Wednesday [i.e. yesterday].
(BBC Ceefax, 28 Aug. 03, p.119)
Always remember that the real object for the US cabal in these talks is to draw China into the blame game.

'USA[:] Presbyterian minister Paul Hill, who gunned down an abortion doctor, will next week become the first American executed for anti-abortion violence."
(ITV Teletext, 29 Aug. 03, p.318)
Two US officials have claimed that N Korea will admit that it has it has nuclear weapons and will test them.
Since 9/11, all the "N Korean admissions" of having nuclear weapons, bar two, have in fact been allegations by US officials. The two exceptions were a similar allegation by Japan (the US protectorate, as two Japanese politicians themselves recently described the country); and a BBC translation of a N Korean media statement, which S Korean translators themselves queried.
The US cabal has obviously latched onto the secretive Stalinist N Korean state's evident virtual incapability of speaking for itself on an international level, and are milking this fact mercilessly.
Meanwhile, the six-way talks have ended with (surprise, surprise!) no breakthrough.
'North Korea said that prospects for another round of nuclear talks were in jeopardy because of inflexibility on the part of US negotiators.'

'AMERICANS ANSWER TERROR POLL
'Most Americans think that terrorists associated with Osama bin Laden are in the US and have the resources to launch a major attack any time, a poll found.
'Its release was timed for two weeks before the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
'The poll also found that four out five think the US will have to send troops to fight wars in other countries as it did in Iraq and Afghanistan.'
(ITV Teletext, 29 Aug. 03, p.309)

(Later:) The death toll has now risen to 80.
Alastair Campbell, the British Government's director of communications and strategy (or spin-doctor-in-chief) has resigned.
'MI5 JOINED HUNT FOR BBC DOSSIER SOURCE
'The Security Service MI5 analysed BBC reports on the Iraqi weapons dossier to try to identify the source for the claims that it had been "sexed up".
'Investigators narrowed down the likely suspect as an "expert on current and recent post Iraq weapons systems".
The details emerged in a further 130 documents relating to the Hutton Inquiry, released online on Friday [yesterday]. ...'

'FOUR HELD OVER MOSQUE BLAST
'Four people with links to al-Qaeda have been arrested in connection with the bombing of a mosque in Najaf in which 107 people died, police have said.
'The men — two Iraqis and two Saudis — were caught shortly after the car bomb exploded, killing senior Shi'ite cleric Muhammed Baqr al-Hakim.
'Police said the captives had revealed information about further assassination and sabotage plots under questioning.'
(ITV Teletext, 30 Aug. 03, p.303)
Jolly co-operative of them. Things are going nicely for a conquest of Saudi oil next.

'The FBI is sending agents to the Iraqi city of Najaf to investigate whether there were any similarities between Friday's bombing and others in Iraq.
'It will be particularly looking at any links to the attacks on the UN headquarters and the Jordanian embassy, both in Baghdad. ...'
