US Supreme Court Justice O'Connor has resigned after 24 years, at the age of 75. This gives President Bush an opportunity to appoint a replacement of his own choice.

O'Connor was appointed by Ronald Reagan in 1981, and is the first Supreme Court Justice to resign since 1994. She gave the casting vote in the nine-justice court on 135 occasions, including for the abrogation of the Florida vote-count in the presidential election of 2000 (thus giving Bush the presidency). Bush is likely to try to replace her with a more conservative figure, and this will be opposed by liberals and Democrats.

'Iraq's ambassador to the UN has demanded an inquiry into what he said was the "cold-blooded murder" of his young unarmed relative by US marines.

'Samir Sumaidaie said his 21-year-old cousin was shot as he helped marines who were carrying out searches at his village in the restive Anbar province.

'Mr Sumaidaie said the ramifications of such a "serious crime" were enormous for both the US and Iraq.

There is only one course the Anglo-Saxon world can follow, and is following, at present: that of imperialism and despotism.

'OBSERVER[:] British and US aid intended for Iraq's police service is being diverted to paramilitary commando units accused of human rights abuses.'

'The [UK] foreign office and MoD [Ministry of Defence] have said they are "deeply concerned" by reports of abuse in Iraqi police cells.

'A newspaper [see previous item] said it had photographic evidence of torture, including burning, hanging by the arms and the use of an electric drill for knee-capping.

'The paper alleged that UK aid intended for the Iraqi Police Service had been diverted to secret commando units accused of human rights abuses.'

Saudi police say they have killed the leader of al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia [not again!], the Moroccan-born al-Hayyari, in a shoot-out in western Riyadh. Al-Hayyari obtained a visa into Saudi in [that fateful year] 2001.

Egypt's new ambassador to Iraq has been kidnapped. A message has been put out saying he is an American spy.

Is this an American attempt to distract attention from the killing of the Iraqi UN ambassador's cousin? (See above, under 2 Jun 05.)

Mentions two cases of killings of Iraqi media figures by US troops, Yasser Salihee on 24 June 05 and Wael al-Bakri on "Tuesday" (either 27 June 05 or 4 July 05).

'... In a previously unannounced visit, US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales arrived in Baghdad for the day yesterday [3 July 05] to mark the July Fourth holiday weekend. ...'

It has often been the case since 9/11 that a significant terrorist attack in a Middle Eastern country coincides with a visit of a US administrative figure (often not previously announced) to that country.

'... Our YouGov poll today shows an extraordinary collapse in [British] popular support for ID cards, down from 78 per cent two years ago to 45 per cent today. ...'

YouGov is a Conservative propaganda unit. They've evidently judged that now is the time to ...

The group headed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of Egypt's ambassador to Iraq.

'A US court has jailed New York Times journalist Judith Miller for refusing to testify in an investigation into the unmasking of a CIA agent in 2003.

'Miller has argued journalists must be allowed to keep sources confidential in order to preserve freedom of the press.

'Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper, who had also refused to give evidence, said he had received a "dramatic" message, freeing him to testify.

The agent in question, Valerie Plame (and/or her husband) threw doubt on purported evidence of Iraqi WMD two years ago. It is believed that someone in the oil junta (e.g. Karl Rove) leaked her name.

'A Kentucky judge has provisionally approved the largest payout yet in the US Catholic Church abuse scandal.

'The settlement, between a diocese in the state and an unknown [!] number of sexual abuse victims, amounts to a record $120m (Ł68m).

'The class-action suit accused the Church of covering up child abuse by priests and others over 50 years.

'The scandal has cost the Church more than $1bn in payouts since [sic] 1950, an Associated Press review says.'

'Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said the bombings had "the hallmarks of an al-Qaeda-related attack" ...'

The bombings coincide with the G8 summit in Scotland, attended by President Bush and other heads of G8 nations.

The attacks are clearly an appetiser for the upcoming British police state, and for British backing for an Iran invasion.

By an "amazing coincidence", New York's "zero-tolerance hero" Rudolph Giuliani was in London at the time. He was subsequently interviewed by ITV News's Trevor McDonald. Rudy said he was in a cafe/restaurant near Liverpool Street Station when the first bomb went off.

Giuliani: Attacks Eerie Reminder of 9/11

'... Giuliani said he was in a hotel near Liverpool Street Station when a bomb exploded on a train in a tunnel nearby.

'"It was very strange being here today and being a block or half a block away when the bomb went off," Giuliani told the Associated Press in a telephone interview later Thursday [today].

'"We were in a hotel having breakfast when it happened and we were told originally that it was either an accident or a device, and then obviously when the second attack happened, we knew," said Giuliani.

'The former mayor noted the time of day was almost identical to the 2001 attacks, beginning about ten minutes before 9 a.m. and ending before 10 a.m. ...'

And Giuliani seems to have gone to considerable trouble to make public the fact of his proximity to the first explosion ...

'I was right near Liverpool (Street) station when the first bombing took place, so I could hear the sirens and then kept hearing reports of different bombings, in different parts of the city," he told Sky News television. ..."

Scotland Yard's Deputy Assistant Commissioner Brian Paddick says the three bombs on the London Underground exploded within 50 seconds of one another, at about 8:50am.

Previous reports said the first bomb, between Liverpool Street and Aldgate Stations, went off at 8:51am, with the second bomb a few minutes later, and the third at about 9:14am.

'The near-simultaneity of three explosions in London subway trains bolsters the theory that the attacks were set off by timers rather than suicide bombers, police said Saturday [today].

'They said the bombs were made of "high explosives," not homemade material. They wouldn't specify, though, whether it was of military grade, a detail that could provide clues about the plotters' level of sophistication, resources and international connections.

'"A slightly different picture is emerging around the timing of these bomb incidents," Deputy Assistant Commissioner Brian Paddick said at a Metropolitan Police briefing Saturday. "All three bombs on the London Underground system actually exploded within seconds of each other, at 8:50 in the morning."

'"It was bang, bang, bang, very close together," said Tim O'Toole, managing director of London Underground.

'Paddick said authorities hadn't ruled out the possibility of suicide bombers but believed it was more likely the attacks had used timers.

'"In Israel we've had coordinated (suicide) bombings but they've never been that close," he said. "If they've got down to a minute that would be an all-time record."

'The use of timers "is not rocket science, but it still shows a level of sophistication which is beyond just sending somebody with an (explosive) belt," he said.

'Paddick said no timing devices or other detonators had yet been discovered in the wreckage.

'When they're found, they are "going to be in probably millions of pieces," he said. ...

'Oren said [the bombs] were likely to be made from military-grade plastic explosives like C4, but not the stronger Semtex, which would have caused even more powerful blasts. Plastic explosives are readily available on the black market in the Czech Republic and other central and eastern European countries or through the Russian mafia, analysts say. ...'

The Liverpool-Street/Aldgate and the Edgware Road explosions occurred on the Circle-Metropolitan line. This 19th-century line was created by excavation from the surface, and is not deep; many parts are open to the sky.

But the King's-Cross/Russell-Square explosion happened in a particularly deep tunnel, on the Piccadilly Line.

Though a radio transmitter/mobile phone could have been used to trigger the Circle-Line devices, it seems unlikely for the Piccadilly Line one.

'Passengers waiting to board trains in the world's oldest subway should be able to use their mobile phones — and maybe even surf the web — at all stations by summer 2008, ... London Underground announced ... . Services in tunnels and on the trains may be introduced later. ...

'More than half of London's Tube stations already get mobile phone reception because they are either above ground or close to the surface. [But this does not apply to the strict-Tube tunnels in central London.]'

In the style of the "mini mass arrest", a recent example of which was executed in South-Western England ...

'Italian police have arrested 142 people in the course of a two-day security operation in and around Milan which was prompted by the London bombings.

'Most were detained over drugs, theft or illegal immigration, while 1.5 kilos (3.3 pounds) of explosives were found at the home of a convicted criminal.

'Threats have been posted on Islamist websites threatening to attack the country, which has troops in Italy.'

Police, acting on "intelligence independent of the London attacks", evacuated 20,000 people from Birmingham city centre last night (Saturday), and prevented vehicles from coming in further than the inner ring road.

The surreal spectacle of ceremonies and celebrations in London to mark 60 years after the end of World War 2. The Queen and government ministers present. Impersonations of Churchill, Flannigan and Allen, a period newspaper boy ...

Just three days after unprecedented bombings on the London transport system, killing — the latest official estimate — 49 people. And the bomber "gang" — as Home Secretary Charles Clarke called them — still on the loose.

They know there is no danger. They are not even concerned to mask their knowledge with a figleaf of caution.

And this is what the Tube bombings were specifically timed at. To encourage a spirit-of-the-Blitz mentality in the British people.

BBC 1's documentary programme Panorama tonight, "London Under Attack", was adapted from a year-long investigation of "the new (post-Afghanistan) Qaeda".

It included extracts from an interview with Michael Scheuer, former head of the CIA's Bin Laden unit. (Also with Evan Kohlmann, a US government adviser.)

It's reported that "military explosives" were used in the London Underground attacks.

'Prof Hans Michels of Imperial college London said that although the bombs appeared to be no more than 4kg or 5kg kilos [sic] in weight, the power of the explosions pointed to the use of high-level explosive material. ...'

'The bombs which blew apart three Tube trains and a bus in London last week were probably made from military explosives, a senior French counter-terrorism official claimed yesterday [11 July 05].

'Christophe Chaboud, the head of the French Anti-Terrorism Co-ordination Unit, said the explosives could have come from the Balkans or may have been sourced from a military establishment by someone on the inside.

'Mr Chaboud [was] one of five top officials sent by Paris to London immediately after Thursday's attacks ...'

'Scotland Yard has asked for European cooperation in finding how last week's London subway and bus bombers obtained military plastic explosives.

'Traces of the explosive known as C4 were found at all four blast sites, and The Times of London said Scotland Yard considers it vital to determine if they were part of a terrorist stockpile.

'C4 is manufactured mostly in the United States, and is more deadly and efficient than commercial varieties. ...

'Forensic scientists told [The Times] the construction of the four devices detonated in London was very technically advanced, and unlike any instructions that can be found on the Internet [my emphasis]. ...'

'... Forensic scientists have told The Times that the construction of the four devices detonated in London was very technically advanced. "You keep hearing that terrorists can easily make a bomb from using instructions on the internet. You can, but not of the design and sophistication of these devices. These were well put together, and it would appear the bomb-maker has highly-developed skill," one expert said.

'The trigger device was "almost identical" to the ones found in the rucksack bombs used in the Madrid bombings last year — although the terrorists used industrial dynamite stolen from a quarry in northern Spain rather than plastic explosives. ...'

There have been scattered attacks on British mosques (Bradford, Bristol, etc etc), involving broken windows and suchlike, and assaults on "Muslims", pointing the way (throughout the Anglo-Saxon world) to Muslim Kristalnacht.

Police now say the remains of one suspect has been identified from Aldgate. Documentary evidence (credit cards ...) of three suspects' identities has been found at bomb sites.

Like the "suicide hijacker's" passport that was found in the remains of the World Trade Center.

British PM Blair (as we have come to expect) has muttered about bringing in new "anti-terror" laws against acts preparatory to terrorism, and deporting people. Including British citizens? Come back, USSR, all is forgiven!

A little nudge is all that's needed to keep the puppet crew on course. Seventy-odd lives is a small price to pay for a British police state and a loyal seconder of the Oil Reich.

BBC Newsnight has a claim that the London transport bombs were made from acetone peroxide, which can be made from ingredients available in chemist's shops.

This is in contrast to the recent authoritative statements that high-grade military explosive, specifically C4, was used. (See above, under 11 July 05.)

Still, this bullshit suits the imperial story of semi-amateurs. We're not yet in a totalitarian lie-state, but already stories are changed to suit the purpose, when the original versions won't do.

The British media has taken up the theme of acetone peroxide, which can apparently be made from nail varnish, corn flakes, etc. It was "discovered" in one of the "bombers'" houses.

'Security sources indicated yesterday [15 July 05] that a version of the Kabul blueprint, based on TATP, had been used by the bomb-maker involved in the London terrorist attacks. ...'

The Egyptian al-Nashar, who studied chemistry in Britain, has been arrested in Egypt, in connection with the bombs. He says he was on holiday in Egypt.

'One of the London bombers visited the Houses of Parliament as a guest of a Labour MP, the party has confirmed.

'Mohammed Sidique Khan, who carried out the Edgware Road blast [the British media has generally treated the fall-guys — sorry, suspects — as guilty, and the dead can't answer back], was met by MP Jon Trickett in 2004 in his capacity as a learning mentor at a Leeds school.

'Khan even met International Development Secretary Hilary Benn on his Westminster tour with Hemsworth MP Mr Trickett, who has told of his "shock".'

And no doubt he was shown around MI5 HQ by Eliza Manningham-Buller, who remarked, "Oh, and there's a little job you can do for us in return ...' :-)

'MI5 checked out one of the London suicide bombers but decided he posed no risk, according to reports.

'As a result the security service failed to place Edgware Road bomber Mohammed Sidique Khan under surveillance, according to the Sunday Times [published tomorrow].

'But the 30-year-old teacher had been subject to a routine threat assessment by MI5 officers when his name cropped up during a 2004 probe, the paper says.'

Was this when they decided to recruit him (as a front-dummy), or actually recruited him?

I.e, the enquiry was a separate one from any Security vetting that would have been done in connection with Sidique's visit to Parliament in 2004. (For his visit, see above under 15 July 05.)

'No inquiry is under way into why the London bombers were not picked up by the security services [cf. yesterday's entry] Lord Chancellor Lord Falconer has said.

'He said "now is not the time" for an inquiry, but for a decision on what legal steps were needed against terror. ...'

... echoing George Bush's preference (WHY were they supposed to be mutually exclusive?) of pursuing the "war on terror" in preference to an independent enquiry into 9/11.

'Special intelligence units are being planned across Britain to monitor Muslims so the authorities can collect "community by community" knowledge of where extremism is building up.

'The Guardian has learned that the special squads, to be known as Muslim Contact Units and staffed by Special Branch officers, will be established in areas including Yorkshire, north-west England and parts of the Midlands. ...'

Many decades of "Irish" terrorism produced nothing like this against Irish people in Britain. Four decades of Cold War didn't menace British libertarianism in this way. ...

The UK government is to compile a register of international "undesirables" which will be vetted before entry (or subject to expulsion if they are already here.

'USA[:] The construction of a concrete wall along sections of the Mexican border to stop illegal immigration and drug traffickiing is due to begin next month.'

Pakistan has arrested 200 "militants", including a putative (British-born) "Qaeda" director of the London bombings. "Many phone calls" were made between him and the "bombers" in the hours before the bombings.

There have been incidents, on three London Underground trains and a London bus, in a farcical mimicry of the attacks of two weeks ago. On a train near Warren Street Station, what was variously described as "firecrackers" or "champagne corks popping" occurred. [22 July 05: According to British TV news, a woman heard a sound "like champagne popping" on the Oval Station train. It's not clear if this is instead of Warren Street, or as well as it.] "A loud bang" on another Tube train (and a man running away), apparently not enough to injure anyone (except maybe the perpetrator) "Windows blown out" (nothing worse, this time) on a no. 26 bus in Hackney. ...

And yet Metropolitan Police Chief Sir Ian Blair (Britain's top cop), on his way to a scheduled meeting of emergency committee COBRA ("Cabinet Office Briefing Room A"), was pleased to describe the events as "a very serious incident". (The Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary Straw are also scheduled to be at the meeting, perhaps alongside MI6 chief John Scarlett, and others.)

The meeting was public knowledge, and the perpetrators could be any tossers, but it looks as if the incident was an appetiser for redoubtable measures to be approved of at COBRA. ...

The Underground explosions were at 12:30 (near the Oval Station), 12:45 (near Warren Street), and 1:30 (near Hammersmith) (approx. times).

It is necessary to note this now, because some (BBC TV 6 O'Clock News, from police and intelligence) are starting to say they were "almost simultaneous". (This is what happened to the explosions of 7 July 05. See above, under 9 July 05.)

The BBC's News has also started to play up the idea that the — all four — explosions were failed big ones, rather than small scarifiers. Pursuing the notion — seemingly produced off the top of the media/Tube-management's head, without evidence — that the small explosions were detonators that failed to set off some imagined major charges.

This fails to explain the varied experience of these events. The Warren Street "explosion" sounding like a series of "firecrackers" or "popping champagne corks" (plus a smell like "burning wires or rubber"); the one on the Hackney bus a single one powerful enough to blow out windows, but not apparently to injure anyone on the upstairs deck where it occurred ...

Police have shot dead a (coloured) man at Stockwell Tube station in London. Three policemen caught the fleeing man, held him down and fired a number of shots into him, in front of passengers. (Five shots in rapid succession, according to one witness, Mark Whitby (see next), interviewed on British TV news.)

Perhaps six million Jews were suicide bombers about to trigger devices, too. ;->

'A passenger has told how he saw armed police officers [they were in plain clothes] shoot a man dead on a Tube train at Stockwell.

'Mark Whitby said: "I was sitting on the train. I heard a load of noise, people saying, "Get out, get down".

'"I saw an Asian [British for ethnic-Indian] guy. He ran on to the train, he was hotly pursued by three plain clothes officers, one of them was wielding a black handgun.

'"He half tripped ... they pushed him to the floor and basically unloaded five shots into him," he told BBC News 24.'

The idea that the incidents were all failed bomb attacks has now fully taken hold, although little specific evidence has been produced to support it. A suggested possible reason for the fourfold failure is that the bombs were made from relatively old "fugitive" explosive which has deteriorated and failed to explode. Possibly acetone peroxide, from the same batch as the bombs two weeks before.

But don't we know that acetone peroxide is suitable for detonators, not for the main charge? Which was in any case (in the 7 July 05 bombings) apparently high-grade military explosive, not home-made gunk??

'... The director-general of [Lebanese] internal security, General Ashraf Rifi, told Lebanese television that a bomb had been placed under a car near Rue Monot.

'The explosion came hours after US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice left the city, after a brief unannounced visit. [My emphases.]'

At least forty-nine people have been killed, and 150 injured, in bomb attacks at the Egyptian tourist resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. The resort is popular with Western, Israeli and Arab tourists. British, Russian, Dutch, Qatari, Kuwaiti and Saudi tourists were among the dead.

The man apparently murdered by police at Stockwell Tube Station was a Brazilian electrician with no connection to the "suicide bombers". Met Police commissioner Ian Blair, Foreign Secretary Straw and Home Secretary Clarke have all expressed "regret", etc, blah blah-blah blah—blah.

But they say they're going to continue with their homicide shootings of "potential suicide bombers".

His predecessor Sir John Stevens (who recently added to his black-imperial portfolio by mumbling about chemical attacks on the London Underground). 'TELEGRAPH[:] Britain's most senior policeman [Sir Ian Blair] said that more members of the public could be accidentally shot amid a manhunt for suspected bombers.'

'More undercover marksmen will be deployed on the streets of London today after it emerged that a fifth bomber may be on the loose after Thursday's [21 July 05] failed bomb attacks. [I haven't yet seen any real evidence that there were anything more than bomb hoaxes (no main explosive), and hence bombers.]

'Despite calls for an inquiry into Scotland Yard's tactics after the killing of an innocent Brazilian, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Ian Blair, insisted that the shoot-to-kill orders will stay in force. ...

'Security forces fear that the four gang members — believed to be London-based and of East African origin [another report I've seen says that the London bombers (which?) and the Sharm el-Sheikh bombers are both believed to be Pakistani] — will strike again before they are found or the explosives degrade [but the proffered "explanation" for the "failure" of the "seond round of London bombings" was that the explosives had already degraded]. ...'

Police have discovered "possible explosives" in a house/car of one of the "failed bombers" of 21 July. They are examining "materials" ...

The Egyptian ambassador to Pakistan says the Sharm el-Sheikh bombers are not thought to be Pakistani.

The identity of the suspected would-be [how's that for a list of qualifications!] bomber who was captured in a dramatic armed raid by police and MI5 [my emphasis] has been confirmed by Scotland Yard.

'Anti-terror branch chief Peter Clarke confirmed that the man arrested in Birmingham was Yasin Hassan Omar.

'Omar was felled with a stun gun [taser] when officers stormed the safehouse. [He was reported to be wearing a rucksack — indoors!] Police said they are still searching for three other suspects over the bomb attempts.'

'... within hours the tension within the community was publicly displayed. At a press conference at noon [on 27 July 05] Dr Mohammed Naseem, chairman of the Birmingham Central Mosque, one of the largest in Britain, attacked Tony Blair and cast doubt on the guilt of the suicide bombers responsible for 7/7 [i.e, the bombings of 7 July 05], insisting the government had been given the wrong information by the CIA [my emphasis]. ...

'As dusk settled over Birmingham a local taxi driver, a Muslim in woollen hat and long beard, was also casting doubts on the government over the bombings. "I know the family of Hussain [Osman], the one they said did the Tavistock bus bombing. He's alive but his family are keeping it quiet ... And one of the others was an MI5 agent [though presumably not a suicide agent! ]".'

Dr Naseem's comments are of interest, if accurate. It suggests that we British can't even do our own dirty tricks, but are the lackeys of the Conspirators of Imperialist America in this (as in so many things). Bomb attacks in Mideastern and South Asian countries have often coincided with visits by top US administrators, some of which had not been announced in advance.

The 7 July 05 attacks here coincided with the G8 summit in Scotland, attended by Bush and other G8 leaders. And, as in other visits, what fellow travellers of Black Ops accompanied him? (Ex New York mayor Rudy Giuliani was in London, close to the location of the first bomb at the time it went off — but went to considerable trouble to advertize the fact. See above, under 7 July 05.)

As for the Brummie taxi driver's claim that one of the 7 July 05 bombers was an MI5 agent .... Well, yes, but do you remember the British Pakistani family's claims, a couple of years ago, that an MI5 agent, calling himself "John", I believe, visited them ...?

'"I don't think al-Qaeda exists because we Muslims all over the world have not known this organisation," he said.

'"The only information about this organisation is coming from the CIA. Now, the CIA is not known for telling the truth." ...'

And here's an extract of Dr Naseem's interview on BBC Panorama's forum, 16 October 2001:-

'[Dr Naseem:] ... Bin Laden is not a religious leader. The Muslim world does not know anything about him. He is not a religious scholar, he has not written a single pamphlet. So all the information is coming from CIA-inspired sources. To the best of our knowledge, the CIA is an institution which enrolled him and sent him to Afghanistan to fight the Russian Army. So they may know about him — we know nothing about him. ...'

Later in the interview, Dr Naseem questions the credibility of the "official" 9/11 story.

'The July 7 bombers left a stash of 16 unexploded bombs in a car, some packed with nails [now where did they get that idea?], according to reports.

'Security experts believe the July 7 plot in London, which killed 56 people, may have been much larger and bombs had been intended for a second strike.

'ABC News said the bombs had been recovered from a car in Luton rented by Shehzad Tanweer but police have refused to confirm 16 bombs were in the vehicle.'

In line with the hypothesis that the British clients are not prepared to murder their own citizens on the scale that their American masters did (on 9/11), but will make the most of a few dozen killings by working up terror scares, of "greater plots", based on it.

Somebody (London Underground officials?) imagined nail bombs, on the basis of multiple popping sounds heard during one of the "failed bombings" (now so-called) on 21 July 05. — This is not how nail-bombs work; they rely on a single blast to drive the nails. — But by an amazing coincidence, up "pop" some nail bombs!

One of the policeman involved in the slaying of the Brazilian electrician at Stockwell Tube station has been given a "free holiday" (both BBC Ceefax and ITV Teletext use this phrase) by Scotland Yard.

Referring to one of the 7 July 05 bombs, ABC News Tonight says that the explosion was so powerful, that forensic teams failed to recover any of its components.

'The number of attacks on Asians [a British term meaning ethnic Indians] has risen significantly since the London bombings, police and Muslim groups say.

'The number reported to the Islamic Human Rights Commission — note including those reported to police — has risen more than 13-fold, its chairman said.

'The total number of "faith-related" attacks reported across London rose 500%, compared with the same period last year, the Muslim Safety Forum says.

Three other suspects for the 21 July 05 "failed bombings" have been arrested, two in a dramatic raid on a London flat, and another, Hussain Osman, in Rome.

The British authorities and media have generally called the dead men of 7 July 05 "bombers". Now that there are live captives, they're being called suspects. What hypocrisy! And cowardice.

Another man, described as of interest in relation to the bombings, was detained by Zambian authorities after having entered the country from Zimbabwe. He's a British resident, has said he had been a bodyguard to Osama bin Laden.

'Uzbekistan has reportedly given the US six months to move out of a key base used for operations in Afghanistan.

'Osama bin Laden is still giving direct orders for al Qaeda attacks, Saudi Arabia's next ambassador to the United States said on Sunday [today].

'Outgoing ambassador to Britain Prince Turki al-Faisal said some of the most reccent attacks attributed to al Qaeda in the oil-rich kingdom had been directly ordered by the mastermind of the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States. ...'

According to the French author Richard Labeviere, Prince Turki acted as a go-between between the CIA and the "Arab Afghans"/Qaeda in the 1990s. He only "ended his role" in summer 2001 ("The Lead-Up to the 9/11 Attacks").

Faisal's cynical use of the "Bin Laden" bogeyman (a figure now only appearing in the occasional crudely-faked video, and very probably long since killed) underlines that he is a fellow-traveller of the American petro-imperialists who use the same techniques in pursuit of their oil empire.

And I had even omitted the death-word "CIA" from the original posting. It suggests a smigeon of "intelligence" at work.
