Examples of Delaying the Drawing of Trump
If you have only the A K of trump as entries to dummy and want to lead a side-suit twice, you don't want to cash the A K and then lead the side suit. You want to lead it twice. So you want to lead to the A of trump, lead the side suit, K of trump, lead the side suit. Bingo! Two leads. That's what I mean by using trump as entries. The leads serve a dual purpose, obviously: drawing trump and putting the lead where you want it, and that second purpose should not be overlooked, but often is. In fact, I would call it the second most common reason for delaying the drawing of trump. Here are some illustrations where declarers failed to make use of that second purpose:
