So Who Wants to Finesse?

After having kvetched about the people who butcher contracts through declining to take a simple finesse, even as I mentioned that there are often reasons for not finessing, I decided it was perhaps time to give some illustrations of hands where it would be wise not to take one. Actually, if we listed the reasons for not finessing, they'd probably outnumber the reasons -- or reason, if you will -- for taking a finesse, but that's not the same as saying you'll want to decline a finesse more than half the time you're faced with the potential. Not by a long shot. Much as with drawing trump, there may be more reasons for not drawing trump than for doing so, but you'll probably want to draw the opponents' trump about 3 times as often as you delay.
