Here it isn't a matter of the play of the hand, nor even solely no trump over a suit, though that is the most lucrative denomination to be in. There are other questions, such as a skimpy major over a powerful minor, as well as little slam vs. grand. In any event, I jotted down the scores, which were: 6 clubs, plus 7: 52%; 6 spades: 69% (plus 7 being impossible, of course); 6 no plus 7: 82%, 7 clubs making: 93% and 7 no making 98%.
Well, now. The main point at issue here is demonstrated, i.e., that no trump slams are the most rewarding in points when you've got all top winners. But there are a few side issues worth facing. We note that 7 clubs isn't really very far behind 7 no. This doubtless reflects very few in the no trump grand. That pair probably had one or two other pairs for company that they tied, and the grand slammers in clubs were beat by 3 or 4 pairs and perhaps tied a couple.
Little slam in no trump brings 82%, which is respectable. You're not losing all that much for being in the right denomination, while being a little cautious about the level. Such conservatism might bring you a tidy little slam a few hands later while grand slammers are down one. I wouldn't be ashamed of being in 6 no here.
But there the exoneration ceases. Six spades on a 5-1 fit? True, that's only 13 points below 6 no plus 7, which is 11 points below 7 clubs. So it's not a disaster. But it easily could've been when there are two other denominations looking mighty safe and one of 'em offering more matchpoints.
And 6 clubs? That pair missed both the best level and the best denomination, and one could hope that they'd learn from the hand and note what a virtual laydown 6 no would've been for a far higher score when that 13th trick is collected.

A wry thought occurred to me as I finished this off: what were the people below average doing? Were a lot of pairs missing even slam? Did E-W bid a costly sac in diamonds? Alas, I failed to think of that at the time of printing out the hand.
