His father was assasinated on Side 3 Coloney in UC 0068.  His father was Zeon  Zum Daikun a high political figure.  Entered the Zeon military academy under a assumed name to get close enough to kill the people who were responsible for his fathers death, but his feud with Amuro kept him distracted.
More or less the villain in the series.  Most people like him.

Age: 21 (in AC 197)

Feuded with Heero Yuy
First OZ officer to recieve a two rank promotion
His family was killed when his kingdom was invaded when he was young.  He and his sister Relena were the only survivors.  He entered the Lake Victoria Military Academy and graduated with the number one score ever.  He eventually killed the General who led the attack on his kingdom.
More or less he is the villain of the series, but he is a villain that most people like.

    As you can see Zechs and Char are very similar.  The similarities are uncanny.  It is safe to say that the character of Zechs Merquise was inspired by Char Aznable.  For more info on Char check out the Gundam Project.
