When the White Fang seized the Lunar Base from Oz's control, they discovered something interesting: Blueprints for a new Virgo design, this one for space combat. This was the ideal mobile suit to replace the White Fangs army of aging Taurus dolls. Production of the "Virgo II" dolls went into mass production as soon as the resistance in the Lunar Base had been subdued.
A Virgo II is designed for space combat, much like the Taurus. Although the Beam Cannon had to be compromised in favor of a smaller Beam Rifle, this had numerous advantages: A: there was more room for extra planet defensors, boosting them up from four to eight and B: the weight difference allowed for the Virgo II's to be fitted with a pair of Vernier rockets, much like those of the Tallgeese. Also,  the complex, complicated and intricuit battle tactics from the Taurus were loaded into the Virgo II, allowing much more options than it's land based predessor, and prolonging it's life at the same time: a moving target is always harder to hit than a stationary one.
Most of the initial batch (200+) of Virgo II's were sent to take over Fortress Barge from Oz. The battle appeared to be going well, especially after Commander Milliardo Peacecraft joined the battle in his Epyon. The Virgo II's were defeating most of the older, outgunned Tauruses without much trouble, even with an occasional blast from Barge's two Beam Cannons. Unfortuneately, a huge particle cannon had been recently affixed to Barge that the White Fang was not aware of: The blast from the particle cannon had annihilated 90 out of every 100 Virgo II's as well as destroying the command cruiser, limiting the Virgo's combat abilities. However, this was what actually doomed the battle for Oz: The blast from the particle cannon also blew a huge hole in a nearby colony, attracting the attention of the nearby Gundams Sandrock and Deathscythe. The Gundams unwittingly chewed a hole in the Taurus' defense line, allowing the Epyon to sneak up on Barge and cut it cleanly in half with just ONE SLASH
. This gave the Epyon quite an impresive record and annihilated most of Oz's presence in space.
The remaining Virgo II's were garrisoned on the Battleship Libra for use against the Gundams and resistance from Treize's World Nation. At the beginning of the Eve War the two sides were evenly matched. The World Nation had numbers on their side with their massive armada of Leos and the White Fang had technology on theirs with the garrison of Virgo II's. Even with the Gundams siding with the World Nation, the White Fang's superior hardware still dominated the battlefield.
However,  the Gundam's mobile field base Peacemillion intervened in the battle, ramming the Libra and pluging it's main cannon. Falling onto a backup plan the White Fang decided to just smash the Libra into Earth, knocking up huge clouds of dust and blocking sunlight, much like what happened to the dinosaurs. Once again, the Gundams  intervened, entered the Libra, and shut down the Mobile Doll control system. The Virgo II's immediately deactivated, and allowed the Gundam Deathscythe to deliver the five Gundam engineers to the Peacemillion's drive module and activate it, stopping the Libra's descent and putting it in a erratic Earth orbit. Thus, the Libra, Peacemillion and all the Virgo II's became little more than a huge Gundanium asteriod field.
