The Confession part II |
Mithras and the Temple |
Music: SoA-1 |
Well two weeks had passed since I was in the village last. It was a foolish decision but I made it any way, I returned to the vilage of the Grass Lepard's Clan. I was greeted in the same manner and the same Clan Leader followed me. I wanted to bash him in his face with my elbow but I held back. I walked down the same path and wanted to talk to the stone smith but he wasn't around. He was the only one that would talk to me. So I just basically walked around, in aimless directions. And I found my self about a hundred feet from the entrance to the temple. I just stood and staired at the temple. There was a heavy stone wall and no windows. No glass. One thing that I haven't noticed untill now is that there was no glass in the village. Every structure had only holes in the sides to let the light in. There were sticks that had the common horizontal and veritcle design of a window, just no glass. "How does you tribe surviev in the winter?" I asked. "We don't die, that's how we live" was the smart answer I got. I then saw for the first time, Mithras. He was walking into the temple. I dared to ask, "Who is that, is he the leader of your tribe?" The clan leader replied. "His name is Sha' Mithras. Threw battle he has won the thrown of our tribe untill his death." "Well may I meet him when he is finished?" "NO! You are a ..." "I know, I'm a dirt man, but can I be clensed? I wish to have a allience with him" "Well I shall see. Wait here" The Clan leader walked up the road and into the temple. He was in there a long time but I waited, with that clan leader's blessing or without, I was to meet Mithras! I walked closer to the temple and I was able to hear their voices. The only word that came out clear was "Lady of Fire" which I assumed to be their goddess. I waited untill the ceremoney was over and Mithras came out. He paused and several guards took me up in arms. Mithras walked over to me. He looked me over. He then sniffed the air to see what scent I gave off. Then he spoke. "You are the human aren't you? The human that was here several days ago?" "Yes, Sha' Mithras, I come in peace" "Well we shall talk about this . . . peace" I was escorted inside the temple. I turned my head and smiled at the clan leader who I could tell was upset. There wasn't much inside the temple. It was built up by stone, had small windows, or holes I should say. And no candles. There was a fire in the center which gave off most of the light in the room. There was a painted figure on a large slab of slate. I imedialy assumed it was the Lady of Fire. She though, was a human. "This is our temple. Only a select few could enter. There are always guards and thy will kill any intruder. Most of my tribe has never been in here." "May I ask why I have been allowed here?" "You are the second human that we have had visit our camp, and there was never any bloodshed. I assume that you are a commander." "I am not a commader but a skilled scout and I stumbled upon this area by accident. I must confess that this culture has my interest and would like to have my . . . tirbe and your tribe to be allies." "Well first you must learn of our ways before we can have any sort of allience. There is also another person known a "General" who is also here wishing for the same. He has been with us for about five of his years. He claims to be a part of The Seven Kingdoms. A most interesting tribe. I was spell bound, after hearing that there was a person from the Seven Kingdomes here for five years. All I had on him is that he was called "General" they never knew his name. I was about to find out soon enough his name. Mithras then started to talk about the religion. He pointed and named the artafacts which had most unsusual names. And after that he started with The Legend of the Lady of Fire. |

"The Lady of Fire was the first woman to have given birth of our clan, but for some reason her childern were, deforemed. She was one of your people. She fell in love with a person that was deforemed. We believe that it was a Ogre. We don't know how this happened, but that it happended, it did. She raised her deforemed children and as they got older, they started looking what other's called evil. Then gossip spread causing chaos. The towns people listended to the gossip and one night the villager's attacked. They drug here out of the house and set fire upon her. She didn't die though. Instead she lived! She burned every one of those attacking villagers that night. Her children had children and we expanded. Before she left this plain she destroyed the town and we live where that town was. She then left the Plain of the Living and still watches over us. She keeps our fire inside us strong! It is because of here that we are still alive! It has been many many generations since humans and us, Ahoul and Sha'ahoul have meet peacfully. I welcome you into my village. I must depart now. And may our Lady of Fire watch over you as well!" Mithras left me in the temple and I looked around. I saw a piece of cloth of the floor by a wall. I picked it up and put it in my pocket right before two guards came in and escorted me out. Here is the piece of cloth. Old Ben pulls out the piece of ripped cloth out of his pocked and places it in the book. Then turns around and sees you standing in the door way with the staff. (You and Old Ben Conversation here) That foolish scout had succeeded in retireveing the staff. I don't know how to dispose of it but I shall. Now back to my confession....... I left the camp after the meeting because I wanted to reach Oriam before dark. As I entered the Inn at Oriam I asked the old librarian if he had any literature on a town that was destroyed about one to two hundred years agoe. He said. "Well let me think . . . let's see now . . . OH yes! There was a town not to far from here. In the morneing I shall get the book ready for you. You can't leave the library with it but I guess you know that books are quite rare and hard to find." As morning came I left for the library. And I sat at a table and read the book. In that book contained the history of the village. I can't remember it word for word but there was indeed a village over the Ahoul village. It described at how a mother had given birth to several demonic children. They were like half human and half ogre. The towns people eventrually panicked when there was a bar fight and one of the Ogre-children killed a man. Then the children burned down the village. The mother was how ever captured. She was tied to a tree and burned to death. Her children however ran away. After that poeple claimed that she haunts the area. And some said that they see the children not to far from where her grave was. Last entry was 118. After reading the book the librarian laughed and said that he never believed in that tale. He returned the book and I left. "Well they don't keep documents, maybe the Ahoul can be saved I thought" I was only a fool. But I wanted to do what I felt was right. Old Ben closes the book. There is colore returng in the sky. "May be I can make it back to Avalon." He tries to get up but the pain from his wound shoots up his body and he sits down. He knows that the weapon that he was attacked with had poison on the edge. He pours some sort of potion on his legs, there is some fizzing bubbles. He moves some rubble and opens up a trap door. He slides him self into a celler. "Well I have no choice but to stay here. I have enough food. At nigh, by moon light, I shall continue my confession. He lays down and falls asleep. "I hope that I don't die on this night, I still have much to tell." As he falls a sleep he hears a roster crow. There are also some panicked Ahoul screems. "Heh, you killed a bunch of them did you lad, good work. If I live and make it back to Avalon we have much to talk about." |
