Chapter 6

After I got to my hotel room, I began to wonder why I did what I did. Was it strictly my obsession with Rena or was it something else completely?

Just then I looked down at the engagement ring Kevin had given me and flashed back to the night he had given it to me....

~~FLASHBACK 1~~

''Will you marry me?'' Kevin asked me holding out a jewelry box with a beautiful small diamond ring inside.

Not being able to resist the urge to tease him, I said, ''No, I can't because your unemployed, and you are a bit of a fruitcake and you do leave your clothes all over the room kinda right on top of mine your just a big mess, and as an evolved woman as myself I cannot marry--''

He cut me off with a kiss and before I knew it I had a ring on my finger and I was happy!

Later as I was going through the boxes of my stuff I came across a box of baby things...my mind went to two different times the first was the birth of my surrogate daughter Serena Lee ''Rena'' Baldwin....

~~FLASHBACK 2~~

''I'm freezing to death, but I am drenched in sweat! I'm dying aren't I? I'm dying'' I whimpered.

''I'm sorry I cannot take the pain away. You have to do it. Do it for me, Do it for Dominique. Just do it.'' Scotty encouraged.

A while later...

''It's a girl isn't it? It's a girl.'' I said.

''It's a girl. It's a girl.'' Scott confirmed.

''Is she beautiful? Is she beautiful?'' I asked.

Scotty handed her to me and I melted when I saw her face.

''Oh. Scott! Hello baby! Hello! Hello!'' I said tearfully.

The baby clothes also reminded me of my fallen Angel baby, Simon Coe-Collins. I lost him in my fifth month of pregnancy. I remember that night like it was yesterday. One part in particular...

~~FLASHBACK 3~~

''There are so many things that I did not get at chance to tell you.'' I said.

''Like what?''

''Well if our baby was a boy I wanted to call it Simon.''

''Simon Coe-Collins?''

''I know it will take some getting used to but once you lived with it long enough--''

''I love the name.''

''You do?''

Kevin nodded.

''I wanted that little boy to grow up to be just like his daddy..smart and strong.''

''That's just like his mother.''

''No. I'm not feeling very strong right now. But I'm going to be okay I know I will.''

''I know.''

''I don't want you to worry about me not one little bit. I'm not scared. Are you?''

''No not a bit.''

''Good. I really need to hear it right now Doc. I need to hear you say it please?''

Kevin held me in his strong arms and told me..

''I love you Lucy Coe. So if you are terrified, confused, furious or anything at all hang on to that. I love you.''

Then Dr. Neumann came in and said that it was time to go.

''Doc?''

''Yeah?''

''I want you to hold onto my ring for me okay. Till I get back that way I have something to look forward to.''

''I'll see you when you wake up.''

''Okay.''

We kiss and then I am wheeled out of the room.

Chapter 7

The next day I figured I should confront Eve about this and so I called her.

''Hello?''she said sounding half asleep.

''Evie! I hope you are proud of yourself! You are a piece of work! How could you do that to me? Can you come over so we can discuss this?''I said

''Lucy? I just got off a 12 hour shift at the hospital. Can't this wait until later?''

''No! YOU did not wait yesterday! So why should I?''I said''Can you be here in the next 1/2 hour?''

''Whatever Lucy!''

And with that she hung up. Man was I feeling weird! I felt like everything inside me was all tied up in knots! Suddenly feeling sick to my stomach I sprinted to the bathroom and emerged 5 minutes later. I had an idea of what might be wrong with me but I was too upset to acknowledge it.

Siggy came in the room and flew on to the bed and gave me a questioning quack. I told him that he might be getting a human brother or sister if my feelings were correct. He quacked happily and hopped back down off the bed, satisfied that he now knew what was wrong with his mommy.

Then the doorbell rang and I thought ''Siggy is so lucky he does not have to face her!'' I slowly made it over to the door, still feeling weak and ushered Evie in.

''What's wrong Lucy? Other than your life with Kevin.''she laughed.

''Oh gee can't a girl get the flu once and a while? Have a seat. Watch out for Sigmund, he is in a BAD mood.''

I smirked knowing full well that I was pregnant but Eve was the LAST person I would tell that to!

''I am glad you could come over. You might have ruined someone's life that you did not know about. Tell me Eve how does that make you feel...''

Lucy are you okay? You are whiter than those sheets on the bed?'' Evie asked.

''I am fine for the zillionth time! I am just having the flu. Nothing to worry your small heart about.'' I said.''Now let's get down to it. Why did you show Kevin those pictures while we were at the altar? A place that took us four years to get to by the way!''

''I did it because I thought Kevin had a right to know. I thought it was the right time. He needed to know the truth about what happened and what better place to tell than a chapel?'' Evie said.

''You and I both know that is not the whole truth Evie. If you do not want to admit the whole truth to me then fine. But do me a favor and leave now!'' I said.

She did.

After she left I called my good friend Luke and asked him to come over because I had to tell someone I was pregnant. I certainly could not tell Doc right now. He would not believe me anyway.

Chapter 8

I decided that before I met with my partner Luke and ask for his advice about what to do with my pregnancy, I should go over to the Firehouse and talk to Scotty about what happened and tell Rena what happened after they left...

''Scotty I know you are in there. PLEASE let me come in and explain everything to you! Do NOT shut me out right now!''

''Daddy why are you mad at Lucy? She did not do anything wrong. I am not mad at her please let her in I want to see her, please?'' Serena asked.

''Alright.'' Scotty said in his less than thrilled voice.''But only for about five minutes or so because we have to go to GH for those tests.''

''Thanks Daddy!''

When Scott opened the door I have never seen him so angry. He was trying so hard to hide it from Rena, but he was not doing a good job.

''Lucy you have five minutes and that is it! Don't bother to thank me! I am doing this for her!'' Scott said.

''Thank you!'' I said.''Hey Rena! How are you doing? Feeling any better today?''

''Yeah. Still a little sore but other than that I am good. Wait a minute aren't you supposed to be on your honeymoon with Kevin?'' Rena asked.

''You did not tell her?'' I mouthed to Scott. He replied by shaking his head no.

''Sweet pea. Remember when the wedding was ended when Eve came in? Well it never got picked up again and so me and Doc are not married.'' I said in the steadiest voice I could muster.

''Aren't you two still in love?''

''Yeah we are but we were not ready to tie the knot quite yet. I am sure we will get married soon though.'' I said not believing a word of what I was saying.

''Lucy?''

''Yeah?''

''Why is daddy mad at you? He was fine with you yesterday but now he is all mad. Why? Was it something I did?'' Rena said.

''Pumpkinhead, you know how you and Missy get into arguements at school and you don't like each other that much afterwards?''

''Uh-huh.''

''Well think of it like that. Me and your daddy, who I love very much, are just arguing right now. but we should be able to look past the problem...eventually.''

''Okay. Daddy can I go call Missy and see if she can come over?''

''Sure. Let's count your way to the kitchen. 1..2..3...'' Scotty said.

Then he turned to me and let loose...

''Alright Lucy time's up let's go.''

''No!''

''We don't want to have you here. Not after what you did.''

''What do you want from me besides leaving the firehouse?''

''I want my daughter to see again! Would you give her your eyes?''

''I gave her my entire body for nine months, Scotty! She was formed in me, I gave her life Scotty! I gave those eyes! I gave her that smile!''

''LEAVE US ALONE!!!!''

''Fine! But I will come around later to see Serena at least she likes to see me!''

When I went into Luke's place later that day he could tell that I was on the verge of a emotional breakdown or in the throwes of one! Maybe I need to see another shrink about that....Nah! I would probably end up falling for him too!

''Partner! What is wrong? Heard about the wedding disaster, you did not deserve that.'' Luke said sympathetically.

''Actually Luke...I...uh...I did deserve it. You see I was behind the accident that cost Pumpkinhead her sight and I lied to Kevin. But there is something much worse or sweet that has happened to me...'' I said thinking about the baby!

''What is that?''

''Luke. I am pregnant with Kevin's child.'' I said and then burst into tears.''Should I tell him that he is going to have a child with me? Or should I just leave and come back when the baby is born? I don't want the baby to be the way that Kev and I get back together...''

''Whoa! Whoa! Wait a minute are you sure about there being a baby?''

''Well duh Spencer! I am two weeks late and I feel like my stomach has gotten smaller! My mood swings alot more than usual and I don't talk in Lucy Logic anymore! Something is wrong with me Spencer and I think I am pregnant!'' I practically yelled.

''You weren't kidding about the mood swings! I agree with you Luce there is a strong possibility you are pregnant but the decision to tell Kevin is up to you not me.'' Luke said.

Well great I come for answers and I leave more confused than when I came in the door! Siggy brace yourself it going to be along night!
