Cappuccino Foam
As the scene opens, our hero is in Lucy's office. She is busy at her computer while Kevin, coffee cup in hand, looks on. He finally warns her:
K: "Your cappuccino's losing its foam."
L: "I know, I know, just two more minutes, I promise. Okay. Yes, projected profits for this quarter, add that in and - voila! An upward trend! Oh, yes, Jax should find this very, very attractive."
K: "You wouldn't be cooking the books, would you?"
L: "No, I would most certainly not be doing that. It's just that you have to, you know, put your best feature forward. It's very important, your best foot, make yourself really look attractive. Kind of like a good make-up job."
K: "Ah, yes, but let's not forget that Jax is in the cosmetics business as well."
L: "Oh, now, Doc, don't go getting all crotchety on me. I mean, you might make me think that maybe you just can't handle being in love with a mega mega career woman."
K: "Au contraire, mon amour. You could become a titan of industry and an advisor to the World Bank and I still wouldn't be threatened."
L: "I know, I know, it's just Jax you find threatening, if I pull this merger off, which it's beginning to look more and more like I will."
K: "I just wish Mac would come clean and tell us why he thinks Jax is so damn dangerous."
L: "I for one am not worried."
K: "I know. That's why I am. Mac takes on an alarmingly dark look any time Jax is even mentioned."
L: "Okay, fine, then why won't he just tell us what it's all about? You know what it is? It's probably some silly, ridiculous little grudge."
K: "No, it's more than that, I think. I get the impression that Mac had some extremely unpleasant dealings with Jax."
L: "Well, I won't. Doc, you know I love Mac dearly, but sometimes his visions are a bit limited, whereas Jax and myself, we're 'the sky is the limit' kind of mindset people."
K: "Mmm.... but is there room in the sky for both of you?"
L: "Honestly, I thought that perhaps our experience or our adventure, shall we say, in San Antonio would have given you just a little more faith in me. I mean, come on, I am not only a brilliant businesswoman, I also happen to be kind of a psychic. I read balance sheets and I do read people's auras."
K: "I suppose empires have been built on less. However," (holding up the Port Charles Herald with its front-page headline about the fire) "empires can turn to dust. Damian was certainly a man who was done in by his own greed, wasn't he? Tell me something, Lucy. With all the visions that you had about Damian, the last time you saw him, did you have any premonition at all that he might meet some horrible death soon?"
L: "No, no, not really, I can't say that I have." (She opens the paper to the page with Damian's photo and gasps.)
K: "What is it?"
L: "Wow! I don't know. This strange feeling just came over me, kind of dark and awful, you know, and a terrible sense of loss. Boy, Doc, what do you think that could mean?"
