Georgie's Party
The party begins with everyone singing, even Doc Kevin, who seemed to add a bit of cheering there at the end. Tony proposes an "ode to Georgie" and Kevin concludes...
K: A georgic, of course."
(The rest of the guests seem befuddled.)
K: "Well, strictly speaking, a georgic is a poem relating to agriculture, but given the occasion, I think we can stretch that out just a little bit."
(Everyone is... overwhelmed, yeah, overwhelmed with Kevin's sharing of this bit of information. After the poem, Kevin decides...)
K: "Hey, it rhymes and it scans."
(But soon our hero is stunned into silence, as Lucy makes her entrance.. Kevin heads for the punch bowl. Lucy heads for Kevin.)
L: "Hiya, Doc, how are you? How was your day?"
(Lucy kisses Kevin and he neither responds or pulls away.)
K: "Well, up till now, it made a certain kind of sense."
L: "Well, that's good."
(Amy is either eavesdropping or trying to smell Kevin's cologne, so Kevin literally drags Lucy into the next room and closes the door. The party guests keep singing.)
K: "Lucy I am not playing."
L: "Oh, you don't know the words, I know these words, I can teach you. Put your hands like this, "the eensy, weensy, spider..."
K: "No, stop that. Lucy, you are in full manipulative gear and I refuse to be manipulated. Now you know what the issue is and you know where I stand."
L: "And you know I simply do not accept where you are standing. Now look at you, all pouty and sulky in front of all our friends. This is supposed to be a happy occasion."
K: "That's what we were hoping for, Lucy."
L: "I really would love to stay here and duke it out with you, Doc, but I've got some pressing business to attend to at Luke's."
K: "And I am not interested."
L: "Well, that's the way it should be. I just came by to say `hi' to Georgie and to tell you I love you. And that's what I just did.
So... ta..."
(Lucy makes her exit and Kevin looks as if that truck that earlier ran him down, just backed up over him for good measure. The party guests recognize an accident when they see one and keep singing...)
