Forgotten DAYS: It's hard to imagine the city of Port Charles without its one-of-a-kind Lucy Coe, but the town did have to do without for a brief period if 1992 when her portrayer, Lynn Herring, checked out of GH to join her husband, Wayne Northrop (ex-Rex, PC; ex-Roman, DAYS) in Salem. What prompted the hop? "That was strictly a contractual thing where we were in negotiations and it didn't go the way either the network or I wanted it to go, so I took the better offer like any football player would," explains Herring, whose DAYS schemer was named Lisanne Gardner. "It wasn't that I wanted to leave Lucy; it was more being a business person like one of the network execs." How did Herring's experience on DAYS compare to GH? "I was thrilled to be on DAYS. I loved meeting the people Wayne had worked with over the years, and I loved trying something new, but it wasn't where my heart was. At the time, they were changing writers. I think I was there nine months, and they went through three or four writers, so the character never came to fruition. There was nothing for me to grab on to. The fans were very welcoming, but it was nice to get back to Lucy." Herring and ABC quickly came to agreeable terms, and she's been Lucy ever since!
