Lucy's Story

On a cold day in November Lucy was in the park with Serena. Lucy was upset because she had just
heard something that would change her life forever. She was one month pregnant with Kevin's baby. The
reason she was upset was because it was exactly a month ago that she and Kevin split up.
Lucy was brought out of the thought by a tug on her arm by Serena.
"Lucy? Are you okay? You did not answer my question about Neil." Serena asked.
"I'm sorry Pumpkinhead I was lost in thought. What was your question?"
"Was it a good idea to invite Neil to my Thanksgiving party at the firehouse?" Serena asked looking sad,
remembering how sick her friend Neil Kanelos was."I hope that the other kids don't give him a hard time
like they did me when I was blind."
"Honey. You are a good friend and that shows, because you are concerned for Neil's feelings. I think that
it was wonderful for you to invite him." Lucy said smiling down on her surrogate daughter.
Suddenly Lucy started to sway like she was going to pass out. A worried Serena looked on in terror as
Lucy told her to get Kevin and find away to get her to General Hospital as soon as she could. Then
everything went black.
Kevin's Office
Kevin was with a patient and was interrupted by Serena's call.
"Kevin?" Serena said."Lucy is being admitted to GH can you meet her in the ER?"
"Serena. Calm down. What happened to Lucy?" Kevin asked suddenly worried.
"I dunno. We were walking in the park and all of a sudden she passes out and asks specifically for you."
Serena cried hysterically.
"Okay I will be right there." Kevin said and hung up the phone."Julie, I am sorry but there has been an
emergency and we are going to have to reschedule."
With that he ran out of the room with Julie in tow.
ER TRAUMA 1
"Lucy. Kevin is on his way. He was with a patient but will be right down. Are you feeling better?" Ellen
asked.
"Ellen, I feel like death has warmed over. I mean one minute I am cold and the next I am on fire. I can
hardly breathe." Lucy gasped.
"Lucy we are doing everything we can. I cannot do much more until the test results come back."
"Lucy?" Kevin said.
"Kevin? Is that you?" Lucy asked."Come here I have to talk to you about something."
"Five minutes Kevin." Ellen said as she walked out of the room.
"Doc, I know you are mad at me but I have something to say to you. I am so sorry that I hurt you. I wish
I could take it all back. Not just for me but for someone else who is really going to need both of us." Lucy
said."Doc, the day that you and I broke up..I was two days pregnant with your baby."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes! Nancie told me." Lucy said."Please forgive me Doc so we can give this baby two parents instead of
one."
"I forgive you Lucy. I love you." Kevin said and with that he kissed her with a fierceness that he never
knew he had.
Chapter 2
The next day Lucy is still critical, but getting better. She wants to talk to Scott about somethings. Kevin calls Scott.
"Hello?"
"Scott. It's Kevin"
"Whadda you want Kevin?" Scott asked."Lucy is not here right now and neither is Serena."
"Lucy is the reason I am calling Scott. She wants to see you. She is in the hospital. She is very weak and needs to see
and tell you somethings." Kevin said smiling thinking about the "something" that Lucy needed to tell Scott.
"I will be right over." Scott said as he hung up the phone. He was worried about his pal. He did not want to see Kevin
but in order to see Lucy he would have to swallow his pride and pretend to like seeing Kevin.
"Did you call Scott?" Lucy asked weakly."Is Serena outside still? If so I want to see her too."
"Sweetie, she is with Gail at the coffee shop upstairs. When Scott comes I will go get her for you to see after he goes.
How are you going to explain this to him?"Kevin said holding her hand.
"Doc, I am going to ease into it. I am going to ask him to remain calm because I have news that might upset him. Then I
am going to tell him that I am one month pregnant with your baby. He will be hurt. Have they figured out what is
causing me to shiver so much?" Lucy asked.
"Not yet Lucy. I will stop at the lab and see if Karen is done with the tests."
"I love you so much, Doc." Lucy said sleepily.
"I love you more." Kevin said.
Lucy did not hear that because she was already asleep. She put her hand protectively over her tummy and smiled in
her sleep. Kevin started crying. He could not help himself. He could not understand why this was happening to the one
person he loved more than anything in the world.
'Please God. Do not let her die from whatever this is.' Kevin prayed.
Then the door opened and in walked Scott.
Serena had just told Grandma Gail everything that happened at the park. She was on the verge of tears because she
was afraid. Her almost-mommy was the the only mommy she had ever known. She did not want to loose her too.
"Serena?" Kevin asked."How are you doing?"
"Kevin! I am fine but how is Lucy? Is she going to live?" Serena asked.
"She is sleeping right now but she is improving. Hey Serena you know how you wanted us to get back together?"
"Yeah?"
"Well we are and guess what else?" Kevin said beaming.
"What!?!?!" Serena and Gail asked together.
"Lucy is pregnant!" Kevin said."She has been since our non-weeding. That is why she passed out in the park this
afternoon."
"You mean I am going to have an almost-brother or sister?"
"Yeah Little one you certainly are." Kevin said hugging Serena."Oh! Before I forget. Lucy wanted to see you. Your
daddy is with her now, but I will take you up to see her later okay?"
"Deal!" Serena said.
Scott watched Lucy sleep and wondered what was wrong with his pal. He prayed that she would recover, because
Serena could not loose the mother figure in her life. Lucy stirred and slowly opened her eyes.
"Pal? Is that you?"
"Yeah it is me. How are you feeling?"
"Better but not 100% yet. Um..I have to talk to you about us."
"What about us?"
"Well..I am moving out of the firehouse as soon as I am released from here. Me and Kevin are getting back together.
Pal..I don't want to hurt you. But I have some more news for you...I am carrying Kevin's baby. I am sorry if I hurt you. I
did not mean to." Lucy said.
"Well..all I can say is if this is what will make you happy then okay." Scott said sadly.
Then he turned and walked out the door and closed it slowly behind him. Once outside he started to cry..he had just
lost his best friend to the man he hated. Scott's heart felt like it was broken into two parts. Scott vowed never to love
again.
Chapter 3
Lucy was sitting up in her hospital bed reading a maternity fashion magazine. She was really happy because things in her life were finally coming together the right way. She had her Doc back and was carrying his baby. She was at an understanding with Scott and she could not wait to go home to the lighthouse.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door.
"Come in?"
"Lucy are you up for visitors?" Kevin smiled, knowing full well that she was.
"Luuuucy!" Serena cried as she and Dirty Kitty ran into the room."I had to run home and get Dirty Kitty because I wanted to cheer you up."
"Oh, Serena that is sweet but she is your kitty. Do you remember who gave you that kitty?" Lucy asked giving Serena a big hug.
"You did!"
"Yup that is right. I am so glad that you like it. When I was pregnant with you I looked and looked for a present that would work well for a boy or a girl. I did not know what you were going to be. PumpkinHead, did your daddy show you the sweater I made for you while you were in my tummy?'
"The yellow one?" Serena asked.
"Yeah. Your Grandma Gail helped me knit that."
"Could you tell me about my birth again?"
"Sure. You see I was on my way to a spa to be pampered and I was caught in a blizzard and took refuge in an abandoned cabin...and your daddy found me when I was in full blown labor with you. He helped me give birth to you." Lucy said.
"Was my mommy there?"
"No. Serena. Dom died before you were born. But she got to see you before she died. Through an ultrasound. She was very happy."
"I love you Lucy. Thanks for giving birth to me." Serena said.
"You are so welcome my dear." Lucy said.
Chapter 4
The next day Lucy was discharged from the hospital and was able to go home to the lighthouse. Little did she know however that there would be a surprise party waiting for her.
"SURPRISE!" a chorus of voices cheered."WELCOME HOME LUCY!"
Lucy was so surprised she almost fell over. She was so glad to be back where she belonged.
"Thank you all for this party. Doc and I have an announcement to make. I am carrying his baby and we are getting back together!" Lucy said.
"Lucy! I am so glad that you and Monk are getting back together and that you are staying here at the lighthouse." Victor said.
"Thanks Victor. I missed this place. But most importantly I missed this guy right here." Lucy smiled.
The party went on for about 2 hours. Lucy was back and better than ever. But all this excitement made her tired. So she asked Kevin to lock up and she was going to bed. A little later Lucy and Kevin had a party of their own.
