Kevin, Lucy, and Breathing In The Moonlight

(Kevin and Lucy sit outdoors. Kevin's been on a rant about Dorman. Lucy finally suggests...)

L: "Doc, you have to take it easy. You can't shoulder the entire weight of the hospital. In fact, I think what you need is a lesson in stress management."

K: "Really? And who will be my teacher?"

L: "Me. Who else? I happen to be an expert in the art of relaxation. That's why I brought you here."

K: "Aha, the notorious ulterior motive rears it's head."

L: "Uh-huh... What we are going to do is, I am going to practice an ancient ritual on you that is guaranteed to release anxiety. It's going to get you out from under all this horrible stress you've been living with."

K: "Ancient rituals aren't exactly my style."

L: "OK, then consider it an adventure. Here's what you do. I want you to look up at the moon and I want you to really, really focus on it."

K: "All right. I'm focussing." L: "OK, good. Now, I want you to breathe in it's light."

K: "Come again?"

L: "I want you to look at the moon and breathe in its light. I want you to make it a part of you. That's the magic."

K: "All right. I'm breathing."

L: "Yeah, but your eyes are closed."

K: "That's wrong?"

L: "Yes, it's wrong. It won't work unless you really look at it and breathe in the light. That's where the magic comes from."

K: "You've been hanging out at the metaphysical book store, again, haven't you?"

L: "Shhh... just repeat after me. I will not hurry the moment..."

K: "I... can't do that, Lucy. I feel like a fool."

L: "Oh, Doc, I'm wildly attracted to fools."

K: "I draw the line. No incantations."

L: "OK, OK, fine. I will do it for you. Put your arms around me. Hold me really tight."

K: "Hmmm... OK."

L: "A little tighter."

K: "Oh, all right."

L: "OK. And look up at the moon. I'm going to let all my cares fall away. I'm going to savor every moment and I am going to be here in the present with the woman that I love."

(Nice dimples, Doc. Lucy's magic seems to be working... :-)

(Later, at Luke's, Kevin and Lucy arrive to meet the Hardy clan and co. Kevin laments...)

K: "Why did I agree to do this?"

L: "Because the boss' wife invited you and when she does that, you go."

K: "I'd much rather be at home, naked in bed, with you."

L: "Doc..."

K: "With that old devil moon making shadow and light bounce off the curve of your hip."

L: "You'd better stop that because you're making me crazy."

K: "Oh and for this I should apologize? You know, I think we can still make a run for it. They haven't spotted us, yet."

L: "What would we say?"

K: "Who cares? I'll think of something. We could go back to the lighthouse... We can try this experiment I've been pondering."

L: "Let's get out of here. Go."

(They turn to leave, but, alas, it's too late, Audrey has spotted them. Kevin and Lucy plaster on fake smiles and wave at Audrey, but sotto voce, to each other, we hear...)

K: "Darn."

L: "Well, you know, timing is everything. We'll be right there, Audrey."

K: "Darn."
