Chapter 2
“So you want a coffee or something?” Eve asked getting up and walking into the kitchen.
“Why not.” Scott answered putting his head in his hands. “I have no idea what I’m going to do.” Scott said letting out a heavy sigh.
Eve walked back out from the kitchen carrying two cups of coffee handing one to Scott. “Well you can’t go on with your marriage right?”
Scott didn’t answer.
“Earth to Scott” Eve said waving a hand in front of his face “Right? I mean if you’re not happy in your relationship what’s the point?”
Scott hesitated “The point is that she is the closest thing Serena has to a mother. And if I divorce her now I just don’t want to imagine what it will do to her. She’ll think I’m trying to keep Christina away from her.”
Eve ran her fingers through her hair “I don’t know what to tell you Scott.”
“How about what you’re going to do?”
“What do you mean?” Eve asked sipping her coffee.
“Well you said OUR marriages are over. So that must mean you really think the Doc and Luce are having an affair. I mean your marriage is practically perfect in every way otherwise” Scott said.
“Don’t always believe what you see.” Eve sighed. “Honestly, I can’t face the thought of Kevin cheating on me. He’s just not like that.”
Scott rolled his eyes. “I forgot Doctor Kevin is a saint”
“Oh c’mon Scott even you can admit he represents the only good in this screwed up town” Eve said.
“Only good? My god is he ever playing your for a sucker! Look at the guy! Sure he’s got his good points but let’s face it the guy’s a few fries short of a happy meal.” Scott explained scornfully.
“What about Lucy? Now you can’t look me in my eyes and tell me she’s all there either.” Eve answered trying not to laugh at his comment on Kevin.
Scott looked Eve directly in the eyes “Lucy is…” Eve smiled at him “Lucy’s…uh…” Scott burst out laughing “Lucy’s nutty has a fruitcake!”
Eve began laughing with him. “Amen to that!” She placed a hand on his knee and their eyes locked.
“Umm… I guess Kevin will be spending the night at the firehouse doing whatever him and Lucy do…” Scott started.
“Yeah, and I guess that means you’ll have no where to stay tonight and I’ll be all alone.” Eve said moving closer to Scott.
“So wadda ya say we…stay here” Scott asked his lips locking with hers.
Eve pressed harder into the kiss trying to get out words in between “What…are…we…doing…to…Kevin…Lucy…Are you…sure?”
Scott broke away for a spilt second “Postitive. You sure?”
Eve broke away longer and stared at Scott “Oh yeah” she said their bodies intertwining.

Kevin made himself a cup of coffee and sat on the chair watching Lucy sleep. He knew he should call Eve but he didn’t want to risk waking Lucy up. Eve would understand. She always did.
Lucy yawned her eyes slowly opening watching Kevin drinking his coffee “Hey you. What time is it?”
Kevin looked at the clock “Two in the morning” He placed his cup down and walked over to Lucy. “How are you feeling?” He asked stroking her hair.
“Like my whole world just came crumbling down… How am I supposed to feel?”
“I don’t know but that sounds about right. It will get better Lucy I promise.” Kevin said letting her lay her head on his shoulder.
“And you’ll stay here with me?”
“For has long has you need.” He answered.
“Forever?” Lucy asked.
Kevin looked down at her and realized she was serious. “Forever.” He agreed. “Here why don’t I bring you to your room and you try and get some more sleep” Kevin suggested lifting Lucy in his arms like a small child.
“And you’ll stay with me?” Lucy asked putting her arms around his neck has he carried her up the stairs to her room. Her and Scott’s room.
“Of course.” He answered placing her on the bed lying down next to her.
“Thank you.” She whispered closing her eyes.
“Your Welcome.” He responded letting her head lay on chest.
