Chapter 4

''Wow Victor that must've been amazing hearing your babies heartbeats for the first time.'' Lucy smiled.

''Oh and it was one of the most wonderful things I have ever witnessed in my days'' Victor answered returning the smile glancing over at Kevin who couldn't help but smile at the fact that there was a time where his father and mother were just normal expecting parents.

Lucy giggled and kissed Kevin on the cheek ''I love you''
Kevin looked surprised ''I love you too honey but were did that suddenly come from?''

''What I can't just say I love you now without having to explain to you?'' Lucy frowned.

''I never...'' Kevin started but Lucy quickly interrupted.

''What so I guess you just don't love me now? Oh that's just great! You know what FINE! I don't like YOU either!'' Lucy yelled running upstairs.

Kevin closed his eyes and shook his head when he heard the upstairs bedroom door slam.

''Mood Swings'' Kevin said briefly before checking his

watch. ''Well aren't you going to make sure she's okay?'' Victor asked concerned.

''Don't have too.'' Kevin responded when Victor just looked at him disbelieving.

''Really Victor. It's a very precise cycle. I wouldn't want to unbalance it.'' Kevin sat back still looking at his watch. ''5…4….3….2….'' Kevin stopped when Lucy immediately came running down the steps standing in front of Kevin beginning to cry.

''I'm sorry'' She said tearfully.

''Aw, That's alright love I understand. It's not your fault'' Kevin answered while pulling Lucy into his arms letting her snuggle against his chest.

Victor just laughed ''Man oh man do I wish Melanie's mood swings were this planned out…''

He had to get away. He loved his wife, but the constant mood changes were getting to be too much. Melanie was getting angry over the tiniest things. One time, recently, they were talking about how to decorate the nursery. It was going fine until....

''Victor, honey, you can't be serious. You REALLY want our boys to be in a room painted in pastels?'' Melanie was laughing at the idea.''If THAT doesn't mess up their lives nothing will.''

''It is just a color. A color that I think is very soothing and VERY appropriate for a baby room. But I am open to ideas. What color do YOU want it to be?'' Victor said trying to keep calm.

''I was thinking about maybe a blue or maybe just white.'' Melanie said turning serious.

''Ha! Well mine will mess them up but yours will bore them to death. WHITE? For a baby's room? Melie tell me you are kidding.''

''NO I am not kidding. Fine! Have your pathetic little pastels, I really don't care anymore. Do whatever in the heck you want to. Because we both know you will do it anyway.''

With that she stormed out of the room. Victor looked dumbfounded. He had never seen Melie so mad. Thank goodness this is just a hormonal thing. he told himself.

Victor glanced at the clock ''Look at the time! I better be leaving…''

''Oh no Victor. Don't even think of it! I mean you can stay for at least another couple hours can't you?'' Lucy asked with pleading eyes.

''Well I suppose it shouldn't be a problem. But I better call Mary and tell her I'm here'' Victor said walking to the other room to use the phone.

''Alright!'' Lucy smiled.

''You sure you're feeling okay?'' Kevin asked after Victor left into the other room.

''Yep. Nothing you can't fix'' Lucy answered taking his arms, wrapping them around her body.

Kevin kissed the top of her head moving his hands to her growing abdomen feeling a strong kick. ''Hey this little one really is going at it today!'' He exclaimed kissing her once more before moving off the couch gently lowering himself to where the baby was.

''Well hello there little one'' Kevin started softly ''Why are you so active today huh? Trying to let your mommy and I know you're there? Or are you just a scene stealer like your mother?'' Kevin asked gently running his fingers over Lucy's stomach. ''Either way you are the most amazing thing I have had happen to me in my whole life and I love both you and your mommy so very much.'' Kevin said kissing Lucy's tummy lightly. ''I better get back to your mommy now before she gets jealous'' He laughed moving back on the couch with Lucy his lips meeting hers.

Victor stood in the doorway of the other room having witnessed the small moment between father and child. He remembered sharing those same moments with his unborn sons…

After dinner that night Melanie was in bed reading a book. She was so tired. The babies had been kicking non-stop for days on end. She never thought that a little thing like the babies kicking would exhaust her as much as it did.

It took her a minute to realize that Victor was standing in the doorway. Just standing there looking at her in the way that he knew she loved. Grinning at this, Melanie was comepletely content with the way life had gone for her.

Victor came into the room, sat on the bed next to her, laid down, put his hand on Melanie's stomach and kissed her soundly. Trying hard not to laugh when the babies kicked his hand.

Moving down so that his face was right by Melanie's stomach, he kissed it and then said.''Hey you two! You behaving for momma? I know you like to kick but could you not do it quite so hard? It wears momma out. I love you two so much. Cannot wait to see you.'' Pausing to look at Melanie, he continued.''WE both love you so much and we would give you the world if it was possible. See you soon!''
