Chapter 4
Of all the people that could be at the door, Lucy did not think Kevin would be one of them. Then she remembered her dear Aunt's words..''I think he followed you, honey.'' At the time that she heard her aunt say those words she did not believe it but now it looks like her aunt was trying to be helpful..

''Hi'' she said.''Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be getting married to Ms. Perfect? Oops! I mean Eve?''

''Don't worry she has names for you too.''

''I'll bet'' Lucy said sarcastically.

''Does this look familiar to you?'' Kevin grinned holding up the invitation.

''Where did you get that?'' Lucy asked holding out her left hand to retrieve the invitation. She hoped that he didn't notice that her ring was gone. He didn't.

''Lucy I think you know EXACTLY where I found this. Under a rock by a tree at your favorite spot by the lighthouse.'' Kevin said moving closer to Lucy. The heat between them affecting them both.''Hoping I would find it?''

Flustered from both anger and what she was feeling for him at the time she stammered,''No--yes--I mean I was hoping you would find it.'' The one thing she hated was that Kevin knew her so well that he knew exactly what buttons to push to get a reaction from her.

''Why? Did you want me to find this?'' Kevin was going to get his answer but honestly he already knew what it was. He wanted HER to admit it to herself.

''Because, I wanted to tell you that I am still in love with you, but I wanted you to be happy with what you think you need.'' Lucy said holding her own against the waves of tears threatening to break her.''The question is do you still love me?''

''Just because I couldn't trust you, never meant that I ever stopped loving you. I just thought you moved on with Scott, after I saw you with him in Florida...'' Kevin began.

''Whoa! Wait just a minute there Doc. I explained this to you down there and over a million times when we got back.'' Lucy said losing it.''But I guess I will spill it out for you again!''

''Lucy really that is not--'' Kevin tried to say.

''No! You sit yourself down and you listen to what I am about to tell you and you listen good!'' Lucy screamed she was beyond furious and pushing hysterical.''You ditched me after you found out about my role in the accident. You did not even give me a chance to explain. But that is not the point. The point is that you broke my heart, but I foolishly tried in vain to get you to come back to me. But you were too busy protecting my replacement.''

''Eve was never a replacement for you and she could never be.'' Kevin tried to calm Lucy down to no avail.

''Oh, Doc, save it! I don't buy it for a minute. Anyway, we were told that you and her were in Florida. I was worried about you and Scott was worried about Eve. We were kidnapped and left for dead in a burning cabin. We finally made it to the mansion and our emotions took the best of us and we made love...'' Lucy stopped hurting as she replays that day.''I was not in love with Scott and I am not now. He and I were just releasing the terror that we had experienced during that time and you happened to walk in. I am so sorry you saw that. That was not what you thought it was..you thought it was passion driven..it was not. You are the only one who occupies my heart.''
