Chapter 5

Angelique walked into Alex's room and was relieved to see that he was awake. From the doorway he did not look like he was even hurt but she knew otherwise. She just did not know WHERE he was hurt. That is what really concerned her. But she didn't dare ask.

She smiled at her Alex as he greeted her with a smile.''Hi my angel. Right now the nickname suits you. You look like an angel that God sent down to keep me out of danger. Come here sweetheart.''

When she entered the room Alex could tell that something was bugging her but did not quite know what it was.

If she had not been crying for the past few hours she would have cried even harder at Alex's last statement.''I am here my love. I was worried -excuse the pun- to death about you. I did not know if you were alive or dead. I don't know what I would have done if you had died.''

''My angel I think you would have lived your life and gone on and seized the day like you always do. That my angel is what I firmly believe you wold do.''

''No. I would not! True I might have attempted that eventually but I love you and ONLY you.''

Knowing that he was not going to convince her of this he pulled her to him and wrapped her in his arms, careful not to disturb the IV line that was in his arm. Pulling back, Angelique was even more beautiful than ever.

Reaching up to wipe away the tear from her cheek Alex said in the most tender and loving tone,''I am glad we did not have to find out what you would have done. Who told you what happened?''

''Rachelle Davison. She is the one who brought me here. She is a good friend to me right now. But there is something about her I just don't get or can't pinpoint. When she was out of what she thought was my hearing range she said 'You definately owe me you little tramp and if you don't pay up you will pay dearly' why would she be after me? I just met her.''

Sighing Alex realized that this was going to come out sooner or later and he wanted to be the one to tell her about it. Staring at Angelique he said,''Because of me.''

''Oh, My!'' Lucy said as she and Kevin snuggled together after they finished making love by the fire.''You are my truest friend. You do know that dontcha sweetie? Not only that but you gave me this baby I carry inside of me. And for that I am always going to be greatful.''

Reaching up she grabbed his hair and pulled his lips down to meet hers.

Moaning he returned the kiss. ''Glad to be of service! Glad I could help!'' Kevin teased.

Laughing harder now Lucy answered. ''Yeah I bet you are! I love you Doc! You have gotten to me in a way that no one not even Tony or Alan have gotten before.''

Feeling the urge to tease her more he said, ''Now I am sure that is not true!''

''Not like that! I mean no one has ever loved me for me, for who I am. I always had to act or behave for them in order to be accepted by them -especially Alan- but you don't care about my flaws because you know that you are not perfect and there fore you do not expect me to be perfect. You just let me be myself. That is one of the reasons why I love you so much.'' Lucy said seriously.

''Now Lucy I am sure that is not true.'' Seeing that Lucy was hurt by him not believing her that he added ''Lucy what I meant by that was you have so many loveable qualities -true you are a bit highstrung but that is one of the reasons that I fell in love with you to begin with.''

Smiling brightly she wanted to ask him who he wanted to be the baby's godparents. ''Hey Doc?''

''Yeah?''

''How would you feel about Ly being the baby's godmother?''

''I don't have a problem with it. I think it is nice that you want your long lost daughter to be the godmother to our baby. Now, you don't mind if Decker is the godfather do you?''

''To be honest, I was going to ask him anyway. But I am glad you are alright with it. But that means that only my side of the baby's family is doing the godparent thing. Don't you think you should at least ASK Ryan if he wants to be our baby's godfather.'' Lucy was hesitant to ask this but she had to put all the options on the table.''I know that I am not exactly for it but if you want it then I am willing to let Ryan be the godfather instead.''

Silencing her with a feircely passionate kiss, Kevin smiled at her and said,''I only want you and what you think is best for baby. I am not thrilled with Ryan right now myself. So Decker and Lynne are to be the godparents.''

Grinning and hugging Kevin, Lucy looked at him and said, ''Now which one of those boys is going to stand up for you at our wedding?''

'Ut-oh' Kevin thought.'Here we go again'

Danie and Lynne were still on the couch in Lynne's office. Danie could not get over the fact that she and Lynne were both adopted. There were times that she felt as if she were the only adopted child in the world. Being seven was tough enough but having a big secret like that revealed by mistake was almost too much for Danie to handle.

''What did you do when you found out you were adopted, Dr. Lynne?'' Danie asked.

''Well, I was in shock at first, but then I felt really special afterwards because I realized I had two sets of parents who cared enough about me to do what was best. In my case Danie, my mom, was only 18 when I was born and could not afford to keep me. She wanted to. She has told me that on many occasions. But her aunt who did not want her to have anything to do with me secretly put me up for adoption. I like to think that my mom would have done that eventually when she realized what she was in for.''

''Would I know your mom? I mean I am new here but I have visited Port Charles before.'' Danie said.

''You might have heard of her. My mom is Lucy Coe.'' Lynne said proudly.

At that moment she was very proud of her mother. A mother that fought for her and when she found Lynne welcomed her with open arms. Just then Lynne finally realized how powerful a mother's love can really be.

She wanted that someday. But with both of her babies taken from her, first Sheana Danielle when she was 14 because she was too young to take care of baby Sheana. Then her unborn baby she was to have with Ryan. Janelle. Sweet Janelle.

''I hate being adopted. I feel rejected by people I have never met.'' Danie said.

''I went through that too but lately I have discovered it is the best thing to happen to me and to the baby I gave up for adoption.'' Lynne said sadly.

''What was it's name?'' Danie asked.

''Sheana Danielle Lawrence.'' Lynne said.''I thought that you might have been her when you said you were adopted.''

''I wish I was Dr. Lynne. I wish I was your daughter.''

Wiping her eyes, Lynne excused herself and went to find Dawn. The session was almost up and she always talked to both parent and child together at the end of the session.

Sheana was still a sensitive subject for Lynne to deal with. She wanted to see if Sheana was okay. The thought crossed her mind to ask Dawn if she knew Danie's birth mother's name.

''Dawn?'' Lynne said.''Why don't you come in. I firmly believe we have made a break through and Danie is beginning to open up.''

''What do you mean you are to blame for what Rachelle said? I did not know you knew each other.'' Angelique said.

''She and I were thisclose to getting married. But when I found out what she was doing for a living was illegal, I confronted her and told her that I wanted out and we were over.'' Alex said.

''It does not sound like she let go at all.''

''I am afraid that Rachelle is clinging to the idea that we might get back what we supposedly had but what we had was 15 years ago. My future is with you my angel. Don't you ever forget it.''

''What did she do that was illegal? If you don't mind me asking.'' Angelique asked.

''She was involved with drugs and a guy named Joe Scully. She did not sell the drugs she just supplied them to the dealers but any involvement in drugs dealing is illegal.''

''Let's change the subject.'' Angelique asked.''There is one thing I want to ask you. I know this is fast but I want to know if you will move in with me when you are released.''

''Yes!''

Kissing him and hugging him she said, ''Good answer.''

Danie was sitting on the blue couch when Dawn and Lynne entered the room. She was composed and smiling. The look on her face was one that a child gets when she is longing to tell a secret and cannot hold the secret in much longer.

''Danie you okay? You look like you are about to burst into laughter. What is it?'' Dawn asked.

''Dr. Lynne is adopted and she had to give up a child for adoption too.'' Danie said without thinking. Then looking up at Lynne she said,''I sorry I didn't mean to blurt out your secret.''

''Don't worry about it Danie. Why don't you go wait out in the waiting area and maybe Crystal will give you some gum and scratch paper to color on.''

Smiling as she left the office Danie headed to Crystal's desk. Closing the door behind Danie, Lynne paused a moment to collect herself then turned to face Dawn.

''I gave up a baby girl 7 years ago because I was only 14. Her name was Sheana Danielle. I was thinking do you know the name of Danie's biological mother?'' Lynne asked.

''I am looking at her right now.''

''You mean...Danie is actually my...'' Lynne began but lost control and could not continue. Putting her hand over her mouth to cover the sobs she turned away and looked out the window.

''She is your Sheana Danielle.'' Dawn said.''That is half the reason I brought her to see you. I want you to get to know her. See at our house there is going to be some changes happening within the next 6 months.''

''Your going to have a baby and you don't know how Danie is going to react now that she knows she is adopted. Right?''

''Right. She does not even know about the baby yet. Tony and I have not told her yet. But when I get home I am going to tell her who you really are though..''

''No! Don't do that. Not yet. I want her to trust me more. I know she trusts me know but I want to get her to open up a little bit more before we tell her that 'Dr. Lynne' is really 'Mama Lynne' Plus I think you should tell her about that baby first. How bout we meet tomorrow --all of us-- me, Danie, you, Tony and then we will tell her about this. But only if you tell her about the baby first. Beep me after you tell her and put the code *156* after it and that way I will know she knows.'' Lynne said.

''Deal'' Dawn said and left.

After Dawn left Lynne reached for the phone and through teary eyes she dialed the phone and called Kevin.

''Hello?'' Lucy said.

''Mom..Is Kevin there?'' Lynne asked.

''Yeah, just a minute. Are you okay?''

''Yeah just fine.''

''Hi Lynne'' Kevin said.

''I need to see you in my office now. Can you come?'' Lynne asked the tears threatening.

''I will be right there.''

''Thanks! Bye!''

After she hung up with Kevin she sat on the floor right where her daughter was just sitting and laid her head on the cushion and cried.
