Chapter 7
Kevin was in the lighthouse and about to tell Decker about the baby that he and Lucy were going to have. He was a very learned man. that is true, but he could not think of the right way to bring it up. Lucy would have known how. That was one of the reasons he loved Lucy so much.
Turning to Decker, he smiled and said, ''Decker, I know you are wondering why I asked you here. I want to assure you that Lucy is okay. We are going to have a baby and right now Lucy is asking Ly to be the baby's Godmother. What I want to ask you is would you be the Godfather?''
''You mean you want ME to be the Godfather? What about Ryan? I mean he is your brother after all. I am flattered but I think you should ask him first. Or at least talk to Lucy about it.'' Decker began.
''Decker we HAVE discussed it. We want you to be the Godfather. We don't want to put Lynne in any uncomfortable situations...''
''Lucy was against having Ryan as the Godfather huh?'' Decker asked smiling.
''Yeah, kind of. She offered to let him be the Godfather but since he and I are not on speaking terms or what you would call close I suggested you. How is that for surprising? So what do you say?''
''Kev, I accepted when you asked the question. I would be delighted.''
Outside the lighthouse Lucy and Lynne were just finishing hugging each other. Lynne could not believe she was going to be getting a sister. But there was a sadness deep inside her that she could not reach and could not define. She was glad that her mom was there. she decided to mention it casually to Lucy and hoped that she would not make a big deal out of it.
''Mom? I have been feeling really depressed lately. It does not have to do with Janelle or what Ryan did to me. I do NOT even want to talk about that today. I know I should be happy because I found my daughter but there is something telling me I should not tell her who I am.'' Lynne began looking out on the beautiful scenic sunset.''But then again her adopted mom is suspected to be pregnant and we won't know til Monday. That means I am going to be chewing on this all weekend. But yet I do not think EVEN that is the reason I have been feeling so depressed lately. What do you think?''
''Sweet Pea. I think that you have been through more in the past 5 months than the average 21 year old. But you did find me and your daughter Sheana. I am so glad you found me. I am not the right person to ask questions of this kind to. Have you talked to Kevin about this?''
''No I have not. I am going to do that soon. That is if it is okay with you. I mean he is your boyfriend. I don't want to do something that would cause you to be uncomfortable.'' Lynne said.''Maybe I should go to someone else with this.''
''Sweet Pea! You could never disappoint me! I would never ask Doc about what you and he discuss. Unlike when I asked him about the one you and he had after the confrontation in your office.'' Lucy said.''I could not help it Lynne. He had your initials down on his calander on that day. I was curious and confronted him after we got home. Honey, I am not mad I just wish you could trust me enough to come to me with some of this. I am your mom after all.''
''I cannot believe YOU did that! WHAT possessed you! Kevin and I have always been close, even before I met you and found out about us being mother and daughter. Trust me mom I was going to tell you that I was going to be seeing my BROTHER IN LAW for some moral support. I cannot believe you did this! What did Kevin tell you?'' Lynne asked standing up and getting ready to walk into the house.
''Ly, I don't know anything about what went on in that room. I NEVER asked Doc about that. I was WORRIED about you.'' Lucy said.
''I believe you on the count that you were worried about me but still that gave you no right to invade my privacy. Meeting adjurned. I have to to go.'' Lynne said.
With that Lynne went inside and ran smack dab into Kevin. She was startled but she was relieved to see her brother in law. She was crying and she was clinging to Kevin and could not help but wonder if both Lucy and Kevin wanted her out of their lives.
