Leigh,
Thanks for contacting me. I also look back with favorable thoughts regarding
us living next door and our almost daily contacts. Your parents were special
people to have put up with me coming over almost everyday for several
years. Not once did they ever tell me to go home, like they probably should
have. Anyway, those times make for happy memories.
I will try to tell about the rest of my life. The teacher who
most
influenced my life was ms Ella Mc Gough, my 6th grade teacher, by selecting
me for the position of captain of the patrol, the highest ranking student
position at Jefferson school. She then demanded from me and received the best
grades I ever obtained throughout my school career. Those early management
skills were an advantage to me throughout my working career.
My wife (Jan) and I have been married for over 43
years. We met at Riggs
drive in, Lincoln, Il during high school, while I was working there. I served in
the USAF for 4 years, as a control tower operator. We are the parents of four
children. Our oldest daughter, Twila, is a graduate of ISU with a masters in
education, she is married and the mother of two children. Our oldest son,
Lester, is a graduate of ISU with an MBA, he is married and the father of two
children. Our #2 daughter, Tena, is a registered nurse with a degree in nursing
and is the mother of two children. Our #2 son, Rodney, is a graduate of De Paul
with an MBA, he is married and the father of four children. Our dog, Peaches, is
a Sheltie, she is 6 years old.
We have traveled all over the word, including all seven
continents and 96
countries including all the major countries in the world.
My work career consisted of a store manager for Sears
Roebuck and,
later, vice-president of an oil company. I retired in 1995.
I am the founder of "Citizens for
Justice,Inc.", a local legal reform
organization and support group, one of only 2 such groups in Illinois.
