Holiday greetings to all the lion dancers and fans on the list. Here's hoping the best in your activities in 2001, Year of the Snake.
May Santa bring you all new lions, drums, cymbals, and gongs.
Mele Kalikimaka and Haoli Makahiki Ho from sunny Honolulu, Hawaii where the weather is only 80 degrees F. The only snow we will see is on the snow cone we order from the snack shop.

Happy holidays to all you crazy liondancers from New England, which is quite white and pretty right now.

Hey y'all, Happy Holidays! I've got you beat here in Seattle... 2 1/2 inches of rain! Snow or sun would be better!
Geoff
Hehehe, I Third that! Wishing everyone a very safe and happy holiday. All the best to the fellow Liondancers.
Jason
Well being from Hawaii as well where it has been quite hot lately...I want to wish you all happy holidays by saying...
SURF'S UP!
Hello Fellow Lion Dancers,
I just want to say have a safe Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. May the year of the Snake 2001, bring all of you lion dancers on this list. Happiness & prosperity throughout the comming year. From us lion dancers from Honolulu, Hawaii.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, and take care.
Laine
Can I play too? 80 is too hot to lion dance comfortably, rain and snow are no fun either. Here in Pasadena (California) it's a nice clear 70. Perfect!
This topic isn't really about lion dancing, but far be it from me to kill the holiday spirit, so hope everyone has a great Christmas & new year! Don't forget Chinese New Year is just around the corner, too!
Chris
MERRY XMAS EVERYBODY AND HAVE A SAFE AND MEMERABLE NEW YEAR
DANIEL LOW
What personal time is this referring to?
Hi,
The lunar new year 4699 year of the serpent is on Jan 24th and the center of lion dancing celebration during this time on mainland America is in San Francisco. Wish to know if any lion dancers out there want to come and visit us during this festive time and meet other lion dance teams and maybe even participate in some of the events and activities. If there are enough of you with desires to come, then the Chinese Performing Arts Foundation will put some efforts into organizing lion dance related events such as meeting some of the local teams and fly Dr. William Hu out to lecture or be available to answer questions that you might have on lion dancing. We can also work on finding a place for you to crash with sleeping bags if this will help with your budget and decision to come. Let me know if you have interest and what activities or contacts you wish to make. Let me know soon because it will be very difficult to organize anything last minute.
Rgds,
David 415-861-8615 (o)

Sounds great david, but I won't be able to go to any of those activities if they are to happen. But I will be up to the FLower Faire and THe Golden Dragon Parade with David Thomas. By the way, which lion dance teams are performing during that Saturday Morning of the Flower Faire. I know Loong Mah will be in the parade with David THomas's group like every year. How about White Crane and Yau Kung Moon? Yau Kung Moon last year, were in the parade (They joined in a little after the beginning of the parade) Will they be joining the parade again? And White Crane last year peformed at porstmout square for the CHinese Hospital, are they going to be doing it again and at what time? I want to get them on video. By the way, David Thomas's floats are looking good so far the golden dragon parade.

Albert,
In recent years Loong Mah performs at the mini parade at around 10:30 am down Grant Ave on the first day of the flower faire (Sat Jan 20th). Then White Crane performs one day at the flower faire stage and Yau Kung Moon the next. Will have schedule soon and can post for you.
Last year white Crane performed for the hospital fund raising as part of an overall program including the awakening of the new dragon. Don't think we will have this this year.
David
This fellow invited my group to come and perform for them during the summer when none of my members will be around and thus cannot perform. He asked me if I knew of any other groups that might like to do the show so I'm leaving it in the capable hands of those on this list. Happy holidays.
Andy

Dear Andy (great name)
My name is Andrew Adams and I was interested in knowing more about your Lion Troupe. I am throwing a festival (of sorts) this summer and am looking for a Japanese Taiko Drumming group, and a Chinese Lion (or Dragon) Troupe. The festival will be near Hanover, NH (right on the Vermont border). There is very little money involved, but perhaps something can be worked out. Are you available this summer? What are your prices normally? Thank you.

Are there any extra charges when importing lion heads (After shipping, tax and the actual products?) like any taxes? Would there be a difference if it was air shipped or sea shipped?
