I'll be going to New York for a business trip October 10-14, anyone know if there's anything going on with regards to lion dancing there during that time? Also, does anyone know of a shop there to get lion head pompoms? I'm looking for a set of big Red/Black ones to replace a set on the nose of my lion.
Chris
Chris,
In regards to the pompoms for the lion head, try Jonie's Uniform in San Francisco. Their address is 2409 25th Avenue. The phone number is 415-566-5566. I was in their store in March and saw a lot of different color pompoms there. I don't know the prices but she has a lot of different sizes and colors.

Hi Chris...
Well... here in Montreal there is usually a big festival in chinatown...october 10th... or "double ten" is Taiwan's National Birthday... or something like that... 6 Liondance teams comeout and parade throughout chinatown, 12 lions. I remember 2 years back there was a street festival in NYC... I'm not too sure if there will be anything special going on this year, there probably will and should be good.

Hey people... just wondering... how come the list has been soooo quiet lately?!?! Does anyone have any shows comming up? what about dragon boat racing? any participating in that? Our group joined another group to form a team, we placed pretty good in the amateur division here in Montreal. We cam in 4 out of 13.
Hello? Anyone home?!
Jason.
Hi guys and gals,
A bit of update on the above event;
Date: 26th-28th November 1999. (28th is the finals)
Venue: Arena Of Stars, Genting Highlands, Malaysia.
They are expecting 40 teams to participate. The champion and first runner up will have the right to represent Malaysia in the comming World Champs next year at the same location.
Those who are planning to come and stay please contact Master Siow in advance(or plan well advance) as rooms at Genting at that time will be hard to get as it is a week end.
The troupe that I belong to is also palnning to go, and we are lucky to have enough sponsors already to send 2 teams. Hopefully we will do our troupe proud and leave a good impression. We should be the furthest locating team to participate(2 flights!).
That's all for now. Hope to see some of you all there!
