Hi Guys,
The list has been very quiet lately. Did everyone took off for the Malenium early? :-)
Any, I have been witing for some kind of update from George or Yip on the recent competition in Genting. I thought someone from this list also went there...did anybody have anything to say about it?
Vo Minh Duc
Hey guys,
Sorry for the late reply as after Genting I went straight to NZ for a bit of R&R. Anyway, here are the results:
1) Kung Seng keng C
2) Kung Seng Keng A
3) Kuan Loke (Yip!)
So, the two Kung Seng Keng made it again! KSK team C is the world champs and the team A is the ex-world champs. KSK team C is still above the rest with some interesting new 'things' while team A made up the lack of high difficulity by its fantastic form. By and by the competition was quite nicely organise but there was still a lot of unsporty teams, well, stll some way to go! The judging was OK althouhg there was some snags at the end. I was one of the 10 point giving judges for the finals, and my team had the 3rd highest score in the prelimanaries and, boy, were we surprise! So, we manage to achieve our goal to participate in the finals. We fell in the finals, although not on to the ground, but still a major fall. Then due to this comotion our drummer lost one of his drum stick! Well, that's experience and luck. Our second team fell down during the prelimanaries and could not proceed, luckily the dancers were not hurt. We were very satisfy and keen to join next time, if we get the chance. Many teams fell, including 1997's national runner up(Kota Tinggi), the team that represented malaysia in the world champs. 1997's natonal champons, from Melaka (the team that did the upside down crawing stunt on the wires) fail to turn up.
We would like to thank Yip's team to takking care of our team when we first arrived in KL and all the tips he gave us. We would also like to thank Kung Seng Keng for lending the poles for us to train and compete, all the advices and tips, and also all the other help us. If not for them we would not have achieved and enjoy as much as we did. Thanks !! Also I would congrads all the team that won, especially Yip, man, you did it!
That's all from me now. Happy lion dancing and maybe more next time....
