A tasty shot of Guile, Cable and Strider Hiryu about to perform their Variable Combo (team super). In previous games, the two team fighters would attack; now it's three. The character art looks great. Note the Strider and Guile don't seem to have pupils, whereas they always did before. Also note the trippy Hyper Combo backgroud - not very cartoony like it usually is. Hayato, from Plasma Sword, is the poor guy on the other side about to get nailed. Player 2 has a cool 6 supers stored on his super bar.

A fraction of a second after the last shot. Strider is about to unleash Legion, Cable has toting a chunky gun and lucky Guile is already swishing his Sonic Hemisphere from Alpha 3. Does that red explosion mean Guile just hit Hayato? Unfortunately he's being covered by his team-mates, Ryu and Venom, who are about to perform their Variable Combo. The super bar has shrunk to 3, indicating a Variable Combo uses up three levels. There are two blue circles on the floor - one is Ryu charging up his Shinkuu Hadoken, and the other is from Hayato's super. Did you notice the circle has edges? Could this mean the blue light is made from 3D polygons? It would make for very smooth animation, and would seem logical to take advantage of the Naomi arcade board's prowess. Someone tell me I'm right...

This one's a bit strange. This is still the same combo as the last two and next pictures, but Strider and Guile have disappeared, along with their super animations. I doubt very much that the board has run out of memory, since many other screenshots show six fighters in full bloom, and that long shadow on the floor couldn't all be Cable's. Oddly the player 2's super bar has gone up to five from three. Very mysterious. This shot also shows off the new combo meter... for the first time exceeding 99 hits.

Three hits later. Guile, Strider and Cable performing a Variable Combination. The red beam comes from Cable's gun, the metal animals are strider's Legion and the blue flash is a Guile's Sonic Hemisphere. Cable's guns beam seems to have diminished since the last frame. Player 2's super guage has dropped a level, for no apparent reason. Somehow Ryu and Hayato have moved toward the centre of the screen while getting hit, from their initial position at stage right.
