More Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Dreamcast Info Here's some new information on Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike for Dreamcast, from IGN DC. Most interesting is that through a new 'System Direction' feature you'll be able to tweak the game engine. Capcom of Japan has opened up its official page for the Dreamcast Street Fighter 3: Third Strike - Fight for the Future, and with this unveiling comes new details and screens regarding the game's modes of play. Of course, all the standard modes will be in there. You'll find an arcade mode, which features two forms of mini games - a car destruction game and a blocking game. You can also expect the standard versus mode, complete with all the handicaps, and an options mode where you can configure your controller, set the difficulty, etc. The game will feature a training mode that stands a ways apart from previous titles. There will be two sides to the training mode, a normal training mode in which you select a dummy fighters' movements from a set of pre-designed moves, as well as a unique Blocking Training mode. This latter mode will allow you to record your own fighting pattern into the dummy, then attempt to fight against it. No word just yet on if you'll be able to save the programmed moves to your VMU, but we can all hope, right? Also provided by Capcom's page are details on the System Direction mode, which we reported on last week. This mode allows you to change various facets of the game - over ten different items, it seems. Capcom's being very hush hush about this mode, though, so we'll have to wait until the game's release to see what can be changed. Note that the changes made in the System Direction mode will not work when fighting Online. Finally, there's the replay mode, a mode of fighting that we don't recall having seen before in a Capcom fighter. In this mode, you can save the replay contents of a versus or Online fight to your VMU in order to view it later. Capcom will allow for downloadable replays from the Capcom web page, clearly opening up the fields for contests and what not.
Capcom and SNK severe ties A person only known as 'Me' sent this in to Higher Voltage: You may be interested in the news that Capcom and SNK is to cancel its working relationship and evaluate future options. With this announcement, has come news that most of the 40+, so called NAOMI developers, are leaving the standard. It is not a surprise that we lose this pairing. All that remains is to see if the Sega & Namco relationship can hold together long enough for a game. | ![]() |
