Last Sonnet for Chrystol

Lady, how I have suffered in your love.
I watched your tragic fall from maidenhood
To a beast of a man I was above,
And still always defended you as good.
Oh, how I have suffered your abuses.
Even as you professed to me your care,
And I professed my love to you truly,
You flaunted before my face your affairs.
And I now suffer your abandonment.
I find you gone, not knowing what occurred,
No letter nor a messenger you sent;
Sweet Lady, you left me without a word.

You dared not suffer a farewell of mine,
So to my love of you I say goodbye.
