Rogue stared at Remy's sleeping form, sprawled across one of the mansion's couches. Snow buzzed on a TV left on, and an empty bowl sat on the floor. Never before had she desired to kiss him or anyone as badly, as deeply as she did now.

She sighed, I can't. I want so badly to take him in my arms, and kiss him the way he should be kissed; the way love would have me kiss 'im. But.

Kiss. A small, simple word. So often taken for granted. It all started with a kiss. As a young girl, she and her first boyfriend had stolen a kiss among the cypress trees and moonlight.

Rogue felt as though a part of her spirit had died there beside the river. Years it had taken her, to heal her broken spirit, and only after she had been granted the chance to speak with the departing soul of Cody, her first boyfriend. The boy who had been the first.

Only when she learned that he did not blame her. Did not hate her. Only then had she begun to destroy the walls of her self imposed prison of depression. Then she had begun to recover her spirit. But still she could not kiss the man she loved.

To kiss him could mean his death. That was what stopped her. Her power to steal the very essence of a person away, to leave them dead to the world, and sometimes dead to life. She turned her back to him, letting out an involuntary whimper; she started down the hall.

Remy LeBeau opened one eye and watched Rogue's retreating form. Silently he got up, and followed her. Using all his stealth he slipped through another room continued through a second, and hid around a corner, waiting to cut her off.

As Rogue neared the corner, Remy stepped out, startling her. He took one of her hands in his, and placed the other behind her head, then swiftly leaned in and kissed her.

Rogue tried to resist, as she felt the tingle of her power, then stopped, and returned his kiss. The tingling of her power ceased, and eventually Remy stepped back, fully conscious, with a big grin. "We 'spected as much."
"You expected what, shugah?" Rogue demanded.

"The Prof' an' I been talkin'. An' we t'ink dat your power 'as been uncontrollable cuz you always so worried 'bout it. Dat's why I surprised you." He told her with a smile.

Silently he led her into a dark room, flipped on the lights, and started a CD. Together they danced, arm in arm. Remy leaned in close, and whispered in her ear. "Fear is a lock, love is the key. You must open your heart, before you will see."

"I love you Roguie." "Ah love you too."

And they kissed.
