Lesson I.
Ecclus. xxiv. 11-13 (Sirach 24: 7-8)
R. In all these I sought rest, and I shall abide in the inheritance of the Lord. Then the Creator of all things commanded and said to me; and he that made me rested in my tabernacle, and he said to me: Let thy dwelling be in Jacob, and thy inheritance in Israel, and take root in mine elect. But thou, Lord, have mercy on us.
A. Thanks be to God.
F.C. O holy and immaculate Virgin, with what praises I shall extol thee, I know not. * For he whom the heavens could not contain, rested in thy bosom.
S.C. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
F.C. For he whom the heavens could not contain, rested in thy bosom.
The Petition
R. Pray, Lord, a blessing.
The Blessing
O. May the Virgin of Virgins herself intercede for us with the Lord.
A. Amen.
Ecclus. xxiv. 15-16 (Sirach 24: 11-12)
R. And so was I established in Sion, and in the holy city likewise I rested; and my power was in Jerusalem. And I took root in an honorable people, and in the portion of my God his inheritance, and my abode is in the full assembly of Saints. But thou, Lord, have mercy on us.
A. Thanks be to God..
F.C. Blessed art thou, O Virgin Mary, who didst bear the Lord, the Creator of the world: * Thou wast the mother of Him who made thee, and thou remainest a virgin forever.
S.C. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
F.C. Thou wast the mother of Him who made thee, and thou remainest a virgin forever.
S.C. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
F.C. Thou wast the mother of Him who made thee, and thou remainest a virgin forever.

F.C. The Holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee; and therefore the Holy One to be born shall be called the Son of God.

Ecclus. xxiv. 17-20 (Sirach 24: 13-15)
R. I was exalted like a cedar in Libanus, and as a cypress tree on Mount Sion. I was exalted like a palm tree in Cades and as a rose-plant in Jericho. As a fair olive tree in the plains, and as a plane tree by the water in streets, was I exalted. I gave forth a sweet fragrance like cinnamon and aromatic balm. I yielded a sweetness of odor like the choicest myrrh. But thou, Lord, have mercy on us.
A. Thanks be to God.
Here the Te Deum is said:
F.C. 1. We praise thee, O God. * F.S. We acknowledge thee to be the Lord.
2. All the earth doth worship thee, * the Father everlasting.
3. To thee all the angels, * the heavens and all the powers therein,
4. To thee cherubim and seraphim * with voice unceasing cry,
5. Holy, holy, holy, * Lord God of Sabaoth,
6. Heaven and earth are full * of the majesty of thy glory.
7. The glorious choir * of the Apostles,
8. The admirable company * of the Prophets,
9. The white-robed army of the Martyrs, * all give praise to thee.
10. The Holy Church throughout all the world * doth acknowledge thee,
11. The Father * of infinite majesty,
12. Thy adorable, true, * and only Son,
13. Also the Holy Ghost, * the Comforter.
14. Thou art the King of Glory, * O Christ.
15. Thou art the everlasting Son * of the Father.
16. Thou, when about to take upon thee to deliver man, * didst not shrink back from the Virgin's womb.
17. When thou hadst overcome the sting of death, * thou didst open to all believers the kingdom of Heaven.
18. Thou sittest at the right hand of God * in the glory of the Father.
19. We believe that thou shalt come * to be our Judge.
Here all kneel
20. We pray thee, therefore, help thy servants, * whom thou hast redeemed with thy precious blood.
All rise.
21. Make them to be numbered with thy Saints * in glory everlasting.
22. O Lord, save thy people, * and bless thine inheritance.
23. Govern them * and lift them up for ever.
24. Day by day * we glorify thee.
25. And we praise thy name for ever, * yea, for ever and ever.
26. Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day * to keep us without sin.
27. Have mercy on us, Lord, * have mercy on us.
28. Thy mercy, O Lord, come down upon us, * just as we have hoped it of thee.
29. In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, * let me not be confounded for ever.
