He's a genuine hero! -- An Irish joke from CBC Radio
My hubby and I love to listen to radio when we go to and from work. Especially, CBC Radio -- national radio station of Canada.
He heard a joke from CBC and he told me the joke after he came home. This joke made me laugh for a long time.
One day a man was driving along in the country-side and pulled into a farm to ask for
directions. As the man approached the farmer he happened to notice a pig with a wooden leg.
The man asked farmer why the pig had a wooden leg. The farmer replied, "well thats Porky.
He's a genuine hero! You see, one day when I was working in the field with the tractor and I needed to check the front end when the tractor rolled onto me pinning me underneath. Porky sprung into action grabbed one of the boards from the pile over there, placed it over a rock and under the tractor and sat with his fat rear end on the the end of the board. The tractor lifted allowing me to wiggle free. I tell ya he's a genuine hero!"
The man repeated, "Ya, but why does he have a wooden leg?. The farmer replied, "cause Porky is a genuine hero! You see, one night when we were all fast asleep the sparks from the chimney set that big oak tree ablaze. The fire quickly spread to the farmhouse. Porky rushed into the house and woke each one of us. Surely my wife, children and myself would have perished if not for Porky. He's a genuine hero!"
Finally, exasperated, the man asked, "but why does Porky have a wooden leg?" The farmer relied, "well when you have a good pig like that you don't want to eat him all at once!"
The End!
This is not a make-you-feel-good joke, is it? Irish jokes are usually full of dark humour.
