Part 2
"Hold on," Pete screamed.
We bounced into an alley, turned left, went a few blocks and cut into another alley.
"Are they back there?"
"I can’t tell."
"Listen - we need to lose those guys. I’ve been shot in the arm..."
"YOU’VE BEEN SHOT!?!?!?" I screamed.
"It’s not serious."
"NOT SERIOUS? Are you kidding? Christ..."
"We can deal with that once we get rid of these guys."
Pete drove around a few more blocks, towards the bridge.
When we got to the bridge, the gate was in place and each side was slowly lifting up.
I turned around and saw headlights. The Lincoln’s headlights!
As I turned back around in my seat, Pete gunned it.
"Wait a minute - you’re not going to..." I started.
He smashed through the gate and aimed for the middle of the bridge.
As we climbed upwards, he yelled, "Holy shit!" And then we were in the air.
"Ka-thunk!" The car slammed down. We lost a hubcap, but we made it across. The Lincoln didn’t follow.
Speechless, Pete and I looked at each other and he just grinned.
"Whew."

Part 4
We jammed out of the parking lot and headed towards town.
"We’re we going?" Pete asked.
"If we can get on a bus, that’ll buy some time," I said.
"If..." Pete said.
We pulled into the bus station and I hopped out to look at the schedule.
I ran back to the car and said, "Hey, there’s an eastbound leaving in 20 minutes. That’s enough time to ditch the car and make it back."
"How much money do you have, Roy?"
"About $200, I think."
"And I’ve got about $50."
I drove across the street, into a parking garage. We drove to the top level and parked between a couple of trucks. We locked the car and ran back to the station.
"I’ll get the tickets," I said, "while you clean up - you’re starting to bleed again."
I met Pete as he was coming out of the bathroom.
"Two tickets to New York. We’ll be there in less than 3 days."
"Roy, I’m starved."
We got on the bus and sat towards the back. I fell in my seat and then asleep.
