IN-DEPTH:  The Teddy Cavy
The Teddy cavy is a type of Shorthair cavy.  They're the cavy with permanent frizz.
Grooming: The Teddy cavy needs to be brushed often (weekly) with a slicker brush.  They should be brushed from butt to head to remove the dead hairs and to make them 'poofy.'  Bathing is sometimes necessary.  Teddies shed much more than other cavy breeds.
Temperment: They will steal your hearts.  They are very docile, gentle and loving.  An EXCELLENT cavy for a young child.  They love the whole family equally.  Satins tend to be more high-strung.
Appearance: Their noses are wide (Roman-nose) and they have kinky hairs.  Each hair looks as if it were crimped.  This gives their coat a resilient feel.  They come in a variety of colors like Agouti (Silver Agouti like Micah pictured above), Dalmatian, Tortoiseshell, and self (one color only).  They also come in Satin.  Satin cavies have hollow hair-shafts which gives them their shiny coat.
Lifespan: Teddies live 3-6 years, but can live longer if well taken care of. Satins tend to have a shorter lifespan.
