Grey Wolf Statistics
Scientific Name:  Canis lupus
Height: 26-32 inches at the shoulder (females are smaller than males)
Weight: 55-115 lbs. (females are smaller than males)
Location: Wolves used to inhabit the majority of the United States.  Now, they have ranges in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Canada.
Lifespan: 8-12 years (in the wild) slightly more in captivity.
Preferred Location: Tundras and dense forests.  Grey wolves are built to hunt and survive in the snow.
Mexican Wolf Statistics
Scientific Name:  Canis lupus baileyi
Height:
26-32 inches (females are smaller then males)
Weight: 60-80 lbs. (females are smaller than males)
Location: While they used to be common in the southwestern States and most of Mexico, the Mexican Wolf still has ranges in Arizona.
Lifespan: up to 15 years in captivity (wild lifespan is less)
Preferred Location:  Mountain forests and grasslands.  They live in warmer climates than the Grey wolf.

Red Wolf Statistics
Scientific Name:  Canis rufus
Height:
  Smaller than the Grey wolf but larger than a coyote.
Weight: 60-80 lbs. (females are smaller than males)
Location: Used to live in southeastern States from Pennsylvania down to Florida and over to Texas.  Now, they live in a small refuge in North Carolina.
Lifespan: 4 years in the wild (up to 14 in captivity)
Preferred Location:  Forests, swamps, and costal praries.

Scientific Name:  Canis lupus signatus
Height:
   (females are smaller than males)

Location: Used to be widespread on the Iberian Penninsula.  Now are restricted to areas of Portugal and near the Spanish border.

Location: In the high Arctic from Mellville Island to Ellesmere Island.

   2 ft. (females are smaller than males)
Weight: 30-40 lbs.. (females are smaller than males)
Location: Ethiopia.

Scientific Name:  Canis lupus familaris
Height:
   Varies greatly from the petit Chihuahua to the monstrous Irish Wolfhound.
Weight:   Varies greatly from the lightweight Teacup poodle to the heavyweight St. Bernard.
Location: All over the world.  As widespread as humans.
Lifespan: Varies from dog to dog.  Small dogs live 10-15 years.  Large dogs 10-12.  Giant dogs up to 10.
Preferred Location:  In a loving person's home.
